why are you writting an aricle trying to hurt is value on the market? are you not a Jets fan? Not that I think all the GM's are reading your blog today but still, comon be a team player.

The Jets could really use another solid D prospect. this would give us even more flexibility with Trouba and maybe even open up a possible trade with the Oilers if they win the lottery ( Morrisey and Jets first overall, probably around 4th -7th overall, for Mathews, seems more than fair to me) So if a team offers up their first and a decent D prospect, take it!!!! If the kings, who do not have a first offer Pearson and a D prospect, take it!!

Not so exclusive link doesn't work.

Ladd thinks he's going to get his money somewhere else... and he may.

Jets are out of the playoffs - in order to get there, we need more/better parts.

Best for both sides to see Ladd traded..

I would rather trade Ladd for brian bickell than sign him to a 6 year 36 million deal. You are paying for past performance on a guy with a serious risks of a decline. I wouldn't go over 4 years $20 million. You save your cap space for championship guys not a quality spare part on a championship team.

I fixed it- crazy how " make a difference from a processor to the web page.

You make the most simple yet telling statement. The Jets did not get to bottom 5 in the NHL via injury, bad luck or anything else. The players they have are not good enough. That's also not the players fault either. It's on the GM and his indecision is sending many fans over the edge.

Ladd is a 2nd line winger at best, on pretty much any contending team. On the Jets moving forward, he will be fortunate to be to be a 3rd liner. We can't pay $5 million for a 3rd line winger.

How is it on the GM, does anyone believe we were going to win the cup with Stempniak, Frolic, tulusty and other spare parts? At some point you have to go through growing pains with your own kids, your own draft and develop team. This is what we are doing. Jets fans need to be reminded the Hawks and Kings were very bad for close to 10 years before being the teams they have been for the past 6 years. It takes more than 5 years!!

$6M does seem a bit much.

I think he could make the argument if he was on track to continue his upward stats trajectory, which has gotten better each of the past few years......though it appears he might come up a bit short this year.....my feel is that if you're approaching the $7M area, really need to be consistently around 30G/60+pts.

Last year we squeaked into the playoffs and had it handed to us big time when the dance started. Management clearly saw that the Atlanta core plus the bit pieces added wasn't going to get them anywhere so they dumped a few players to get some of their prospects into the line up. I expect a couple more newbies in the line up next year - Kyle Connor - leading the NCAA in scoring this year as a prime example.

The Jets are on the right track IMHO.

Going to be an interesting off-season to be sure.
Could have a top 5 draft pick.
Assuming we trade Ladd, we add another prospect and a 1st round pick.
Is Trouba in play ?
Will Kyle Connor leave school early ?
Is Brendan Lemieux NHL ready ?
Are we trading Pavelec, are we not re-signing Hutch ?

Quoting sditulli ...... The 'Hawks would be all over that so fast that Bickell would be in the PEG tonite, getting there on Rocky's private jet.

And for Pete, ask yourself how Ladd would look on a line with the two sure-fire HOF'ers in Hossa and Toews as a 1L, or on a checking line as a 3L with Kruger and Desjardins, come playoff time. Oh yeah baby!

A good portion of some players value comes from who their linemates are. I get the PEGs resistance though for $6M x 6yrs. Ladd would only be a 'Hawks rental given their cap situation.

I think Ladd could look great in lots of places but not sure what Winnipeg is doing or has done is the right place for him and the team anymore. There's nothing wrong with realizing the fit is not there anymore.

This goes under what the hell do I know column but in order I would:

Trade Ladd for a 1st round pick and a Left Handed D prospect (Matheson FLA, or Theadore in ANH)...both top prospects for those teams so BIG ASK...I know!

If Pavelec has a taker in Calgary for Hiller and a 2nd rd pick..... DO IT!!!!

As for Trouba I would wait until the draft lottery and see what our options are. If we are in top 5 then a combination of Trouba and an extra 1st rd pick really gives us options.

We land Matthews.....stay with me...then you actually don't have to rush Connor.

This team in 2-3 years is going to be solid and young, stay on plan!

Pistol Pete - clarification: you believe Chevy will sign Ladd and then trade him before the deadline ? Making him more valuable than a rental ? Is that what you're predicting ?

I agree with Ross77 - this draft & develop will probably take 10 yrs since they arrived ... also - when I look at 'hawks - they managed to draft 2 of the world's best for their core ... 3 if you count Keith

Oh ya - before I forget: Flames 5 Comets 3 ... hope the parent party was a blast !

You guys just need a legitimate #1 goalie. Chances are Chevy doesn't deal ladd, but goes after Riemer if he reaches UFA.

No- I just think he could do both and doesn't know which yet. Party was fun I had to leave for midget hockey game but the stories after were quite funny. Might want to ask Scotty boy about a urine accident.

I'll think the Jets see what they have in Hellybuyk and Comrie.

Hellebuyck is gonna be your starter next year.
Pavalec's contract is basically untradeable.
What would it take to get Hutchinson form you?

I think Hutch is traded for, high side a 2nd, low side a 5th rounder

2nd is pretty pricey for back up goalie that about to be a restricted free agent. If a team were to offer him $1.2M/yr or less you would get nothing for him. I can imagine he would fetch more than that. even so, the next tier up up is only a 3rd rounder.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Offer_sheet

Anyway, all I'm saying is I think SJ would give a 6th for him.

I don't think we could get Theodore straight up for Ladd. Maybe Vatanen? Even that seems a little high...

Oh that's right. I meant Lindholm. Got my Ducks dmen mixed up. I was thinking Vatanen + to Tampa (my other team) for Drouin as Stevie Y is looking for a right hand shot
