Nothing will happen today. Im sure the league already had their talk with the teams and the refs will be directed to start tossing people for anything .

Its time to get off the pot. Like someone mentioned yesterday picking #7 is again an attainable feat.

No reason why we cant pick top 5 this year. Im totally ok with packing it in again this year and next. But it starts getting real in the 2017-2018 season.

I will say this though. I think this is the first time in years where the rumors of the cap not going up or even dropping doesnt bother me. Odd huh?

Personally I don't want them to tank but feel they should be ready to add somebody in trade, make no move, or move what they can (some obviously won't be moved) & play out the season as best they can.

If the cap drops...I don't see how the league doesn't give out another buyout or two. I just don't see how it works with the teams up against the ceiling. Ufas would be screwed royally. Like you said with the flyers position it wouldn't matter much at all

With regards to a top 5 pick. Don't see it happening unless we hit the lottery

It will happen naturally. Mdz and coots out are game breakers for the flyers. Cringing and smiling at the same time thinking about our defense now

We are only 2 points out of a top five pick, if I counted right.

I don't condone sports teams losing to get a better draft pick on purpose, but there is no way players want that. As a business standpoint, high talented draft picks are more than likely affect others on the team financially. I truly believe this draft will determine how quickly the Flyers get on track. By the time the Flyers get a taste of winning again Giroux will be in his 30's and someone will need to be taught to take over as the face of the franchise. A top 10 pick would be great, a top 5 would be incredible and a top 3 would be franchise changing.

Flyers "staying" the course is good, but doesn't resolve their needs still. I'd rather them not slip back in the past and buy winning teams. As for trading the Flyers have no real movable assets that can garner immediate help without giving up the core or future, could just be a parallel move.

I for one want the best pick possible for the Flyers this year, history has shown championship teams get built with at least 1 or 2 high end draft picks. The Flyers need one badly.

The PA and league would have to come together and agree to an emergency measure like that. Owners obviously would love to get rid of some dead weight.. I'm not sure what the benefit for players under contract would be, tho. They're already looking bigger and bigger escrow payments moving forward... why would they want to take the chance of ending up on the breadline w/ all their UFA counterparts?

Even if the cap goes down, there will be salary-dump destinations, buy outs, retained salary trades, etc etc etc to get under the cap. Will it impede the competitiveness of these teams that didn't plan better? Yeah. But (frank) them, right?

For once I like the position the Flyers are in regarding the cap. Other than MacDonald, the rest are manageable...unless Voracek takes a huge dump next year and continues his slow start.

All this talk about McDavid should win the Calder...getting so old. Let's have the season end first and see how he finishes. Seeing a bunch of comments about how Panarin isn't even a rookie because he played 2 seasons in Europe. I even saw someone say the NHL is "biased against Canadians". That's a new one.

The Flyers aren't dead just yet .....but realistically have to go on a bit of a run in the next 2 weeks or it's time to be a seller.....they don't or shouldn't have to "tank" but it's time to see some of the future in March. Move out some vets that are obviously not part of the future....Schultz, Read, Raffl....anyone off the 4th line and perhaps the backup goalie.
Call up Leirer, Alt and maybe even Morin for a looks see.....a top ten pick is looking more and more probable.

They're pretty close to dead.

5-pts is really hard to surmount, unless all the teams in front of them go on concurrent losing streaks and none of their games go to OT.

Mc Jesus is hands down the most talented Rookie....but that's not what the award is for...it's for the Rookie that had the best season. I think panarin is the front runner but some others including Ghost have 30 or so games left to change some minds....as a Canadian I think the whole biased thing is rediculous.

I think Vorecek has been worth every penny in the last 35 games....accept maybe that piss poor back check in OT yesterday....I know most don't want to here it....but Macdonald's "book" may have some chapters left to be written in Philadelphia.

People think Panarin is riding the coat tails of Kane, but this kid is good. It may actually be the opposite why Kane is having such a remarkable season point wise.

I think if Ghostisbehere continues his pace and manages 50 point range, he may not win, but I think will end up in 2nd place. The fact he gets most points on the PP and still a relative good +/- on a poor team is impressive.

McDavid is an amazing talent, but IMO I don't think his season has been that special. Injuries may be an excuse, but a healthy player is better than one who isn't. He has a way to go to be marked as injury prone, but in his short career dating back to last year in juniors it is a concern.

His big contract doesn't kick in until next year. So I agree he is worth every penny this year. If Voracek makes a habit of slow starts and major slumps next year, Flyers could be in trouble. "Things" happen, but when "things" happen multiple times than "things" is what it is.
