I hope not. I think Drouin has tons of potential but he would probably cost Severson, our 1st round pick this year and another piece. A package like that could probably return a much more proven forward.

I actually think Severson sitting is because Gelly is being showcased. And you kinda said it yourself, if this kid as a ton of potential then we should do it, even though he isn't totally proven. But when he did play he put up points. Just hasn't played much. Then we would only be giving up Severson, because a pick is just a pick, you never know. Though I'd hate to lose Severson, we need goals. Cammy will only be going downhill after this year then we are left with kinda nothing on offense.

Or, you know, Severson is just not playing that well and needs to figure some things out.

It would t cost anywhere near that man the sens wouldn't give chabot for him it won't cost a player like severson a first from a possible non play off team and prospect they won't get anywhere near that from anyone. I would swap severson for him and that's about it.

WE may not pony up that price, but this is the NHL some knuckle head GM is sure to offer a roster player and a 1st.

That's true. Even if Severson has hit a skid, I don't think it helps the team to have Gelinas or Helgeson in over him.

Drouin's value has dropped big time. Yzerman's been looking for a 1 for 1 swap for a young RHD or forward on and ELC. I think if any team was willing to pay that price they'd have jumped on it already instead of making Drouin sit at home.

This is the vengeful GM in me, but if I were Stevie Y, id make him sit. He is an RFA in 2 years which means he just needs to be qualified. Which means he is Tampa's property forever if Tampa retains his rights...

They are playing well without him so they aren't losing anything with him not playing. Have a team offer him and offer sheet and if it is low enough, Tampa will match. If its high, they can get multiple first round picks as compensation.

Though this wouldn't happen for 2 years, but the kid will def. drop is agent and straighten up after this.

Good luck showcasing a guy with 1 goal and 5 assists in 33 games and a nice -7. That's with pretty protected minutes. Not to beat up on Gelly, but really how much trade value could he have? He doesn't even look good out there. I think you showcase him better in the press box. If they're showcasing Gelly, he's getting shown up by Helgeson who looks like he at least know how to play defense and use his size.

Gelly is the new Gionta. Always in and always a liability.

They why not just trade Cam now then? I think we could get a 1st, a good young player, and a prospect for him. That's usually what a player like him would fetch. And he has term, he's not a UFA and he's a 1st line LW.

I totally agree.. But I think they will make a push for the playoffs so that wont happen until maybe draft day.

NMC. Along with the fact that I don't see the Devils getting equal value. Teams have games in hand but they are still in the middle of a playoff race.

I would be ok with it but then you would get the whole argument of how we are moving a player that actually wants to play here and there isn't many or hasn't been many in the past maybe it was more of a cultural thing with Lou and hopefully some of that has changed with Ray being here and more players will want to come here and not because we where the only team willing to overpay.
