Komarov for a first round pick that will be like 28th overall? No thanks never gonna happen.

While Komorovs value will never be higher, I have some doubts Babcock would ever let the leafs trade him.
Where is Bozk BTW. I tend to think his vlue has never be higher with him having a career year without Phil Kessel.
Does Dallas have the cap room to take Dion BTW.

We'd be getting Hemsky back, they can't be too far off in salaries.

They would if the Leafs took back Hemsky in the deal as I said. He makes $4 Million this and next season.

Yep, I like all the trades. Trade deadline and the draft will be exciting for Leaf fans.

I just don't think the Clowe trade makes sense from either side.

NJ gets no benefit from moving clowe.

Actual cap space > LTIR cap space. Leafs should avoid adding LTIR space when possible.

While Lupes deal stinks, it is only 2years. You have him next season and then you can buy him out with only 2 years on cap hit.

Clarkson deal made sense due to the years left on both deals and Columbus being broke.

I think the best deal for lupul is a slightly better contract to buyout.

I don't know, maybe someone like emelin in mtl.

They'd have a player twice as healthy as Clowe for the same price

Lupul's salary is only 3.7M the last year....and he dresses nice.

Fair enough

The trade makes even less sense then.

NJ is under no pressure to move clowe, so it is not comparable to the horton situation.

Same with the Leafs, they can wait for a better option than clowe.

Main difference is Clowe's contract is being covered by insurance, Costs NJ very little to keep him - Trading for Lupul means they have to pay legit money for his paltry production and the Leafs would be benefiting from the savings

Hortons contract WASN'T insured, That was coming out of the BJ's pockets, In that case they got a player who would actually play vs a player who couldn't for the same $$$

I still cannot believe the BJs signed Horton without insurance. They are 30th in revenue in the NHL.

I think they weren't able to insure the contract. They sure wanted that. The number of insured contacts is limited or something?

They could not get insurance before the signed him. They should have just walk away. Given that, it was actually a far worse signing than Clarkson.

I cannot believe Mike removed my critical post of Jim Rutherord. Bill Watters loves Jim and since Mike Interviews Bill lot, I thought it would be a good question.

It is my opinion Jim Rutherford is a terrible GM.

i like all deals...and not just in the leafs favour, they make sense for the acquiring teams.

except the bernier, while yes, he has been very bad this year, trading him for rights to a player is not worth it, better let him regain some value next year and see what you have.
