If that was Marchand or Rinaldo delivering that hit it would have been 5 + a game misconduct + an immediate meeting with the Department of Player Safety where the book would have been thrown at them.

I think the officials really dropped the ball, if that game had gotten out of hand (which it didn't) it would have totally been on the officals hands.

Having said that, at least i saw some effort in this loss, especially in the third. Seeing any kind of effort after the embarassment at Gilette is a good thing i suppose.

I was out to dinner last night and didn't get much of a chance to watch, though the game was on TV at the restaurant and I happened to catch the hit... I couldn't believe there was no call on the play. That was as clear cut as boarding gets, so I think the officials should be having a meeting with the Department of Player Safety.

I was able to make it home to watch most of the third, and I thought they looked pretty good for that period. Holtby made a couple of nice saves to keep them up... that dude is like the Bruins kryptonite... it's ridiculous. I can't remember the exact stat that was mentioned, but they said something like the Caps had outscored the Bruins 13-1 over the past 4 match ups. 13-1?!?!?!

What you might want to keep in mind though, is Marchand and Rinaldo have reputations and are repeat offenders. In that case there is no one to blame but themselves.

McQuaid put in himself in a bad spot right before the hit. It should have been a boarding call right there. The refs dropped the ball again. I don't think it warrants supplemental discipline.

Really hoping Pasta gets called back up - and is put on a line with Vatrano and/or Spooner. I really don't care for Kempainnen. I don't think he merits much praise. He can be on a fourth line for now with Rinaldo and Randell. Hopefully Krejci's injury isn't too serious so they can get back in stride

Super frustrating that the losses are piling up but at least the effort was there. If we're being honest, this is the first real slump the team has dealt with since everything started gelling together. It was bound to happen, how they recover from it will tell us who this team really is Imo

looking at last night's lineup on paper, I'm really surprised it was a one goal game. Marchand, Pasta and hopefully soon Krecji are going to be a much needed jolt. When are we getting the added talent from all that Kelly cap space we've been complaining about anyways???

You're right... it's a totally different team when those guys are black on our roster, especially since Marchand and Krecji have been two of our best players all year. That being said, the salary cap is a bit more complicated than that... simply placing Kelly on LTIR doesn't automatically free up his cap space.

Kemp is the new Soderberg... and he wasn't very relevant in his first year either. He's not setting the world on fire, but I don't think he looks particularly bad either.
