Was Hextall really recently quoted about possibly sending ghost back down?

He said it's a possibility. When Streit returns they need to make a move

Yes he certainly did. That entire line was good. They should've played more.

I really don't understand why he won't dismiss the notion of sending Ghost down...it'd be complete stupidity to do so, as there are several individuals of no real consequence that could be waived to clear up the cap space if no trades are available.

If I understand the rules correctly for the roster freeze, if they want to activate Streit for the next game back, the Flyers have two choices to remain cap compliant. That's demoting Laughton or Gostisbehere.

I like Laughton a lot, but to me, that's a no-brainer.

That whole sequence when Voracek got the roughing was ridiculous. The fact that Jake got the only penalty (and probably had the last to do with it) followed by the non-call on Parayko's hit to Umberger's head was horrible.

Thanks Bill. Man, that was an ugly win last night. The poor first period starts are a crazy way to open a lot of the games this season; a bad habit to get into. During the game it was noted the scoring differential of the first period was not good.
A road trip is coming up. It will be interesting to see how the team responds, or if we end up back at .500 again.
In addition, we have a lot of trouble with the big, and physical teams. We improved in the area of team speed, however the better, and stronger teams are pushing us around quite a bit. If we trade a D-player then I hope that we get a power forward with a little speed in return. One that will go to the net, and not get pushed around all the time.
Enjoy Christmas everyone.

I agree. They can play Gagner, and make other moves once the roster freeze is over.

Well the first period was ugly, and certainly the break away goal given up in the 2nd. After that, it was actually a thing of beauty. Once the Flyers woke up and responded, they actually pushed the Blues around, and took over the game.

I would just have Streit sit out one more game. There's no rush.

The refs certainly weren't helping the Flyers cause last night...they were pretty awful

Same thing against Columbus. I read that Hakstol is not getting the benefit of the doubt as a rookie coach, and there could be something to that.

Sending Ghost back down would maybe be the closest thing this team has ever done to tanking. That call up turned the year around.

I don't know that you can leave a guy on LTIR after he has been cleared to play.

I'm sure it's a ploy as much as anything, to avoid revealing his hand. Maybe he has a trade and if the other GM really thinks he'll send Gostisbehere down maybe he won't low ball him. Maybe he's trying to keep everyone on their toes. Maybe he will send him down for a day or two.

Me, I'd just wait until after the roster freeze is over, waive Gagner and Manning & recall Colin McDonald and problem solved. I would have said Umberger, but he's actually had a few strong games in a row of late.

Don't know if he was. But I would think he would have to be in order to play in the next game.

If the NHL already knows that was the plan, I just worry about the team getting hit with a cap penalty of some kind. The team cant lie, that is dangerous.
