OEL & STONE OVER ALL OTHER PAIRINGS. Don't question tanner. His stats never lie.

On a more serious note, i take josi and weber every day of the week over any other pairing. THat's just me though

Anyone that doesn't say Keith/Seabrook should hand in their hockey fan membership.

The cornerstone first unit pairing for three Stanley Cups and are showing no signs of slowing down.

Yeah...except for the fact that, as JJ pointed out, they aren't paired together this year. Weber/Josi for me.

Bc the coach is smart enough to realize that his dmen are not as strong as last year, but the fact is, they've been paired mostly their entire career.... And when it matters most....

I love JJ but he admitted he picked a pair that doesn't even currently play together. I don't know if the term "realistic" should be applied hahaha.

The Kings haven't played Doughty-Muzzin together too much this year otherwise they'd easily be the best pair, since they're two of the best in the entire league. I'd go with Stallman/Hedmen as well.

They played 23 minutes together so far this year, so I don't think this makes sense at all. I mean, if you don't think two guys who do not play together are the best pairing then you shouldn't be a hockey fan.

Maybe the best logic I have ever seen on this site.

Hey!!! its Stralman/Hedman plus if you read a prior post of Hawks coach being smart as hell, would give you insight to my decision. Plus I think Doughty/Muzzin was 3rd on my list. Just bc of this season or early into, shouldn't change the way most of the d-pairings have been unless it continues into next year.

Keith Seabrook and it isn't even a question

edit: I suppose it is a question since they don't play together anymore

In a crunch, they are always out there together and have been together for the beter part of their entire respective careers.

I know the Hawks when healthy probably have the best pair but watching Hedman and Stralman last night was very impressive. Those two are damn good, especially Hedman.

The title of this piece was the best pairing in the NHL; never a mention of specifically narrowing it down to this season alone which is a whopping two months deep. Considering Keith missed about a good month of this young season your calling me out, for being ignorant, is quite hilarious.

But please go on about how my statement regarding how those two are dominant, when put together, is as illogical as your preseason prediction of Carolina being a playoff team or Edmonton being a powerhouse in the west.

Carry on, sir.

Keith and Seabrook are a unique situation because of the history there and the fact they get paired together in big situations in big games. Keith has played with Hjalmarsson most of the year. Not sure that pair's not at least in contention here.

Hedman/Stralman?

Very impressive. But to me it's more a testament to how great Hedman is. And is becoming. Stralman is a nice defenseman, but not sure how great he is without Hedman. Hedman is close to being the best in the game, right now, IMO. He and Josi are the next level after Keith and Doughty for me, as two-way defensemen, and the eventual heirs.

It's illogical because they don't play together nearly enough right now to be in this discussion. Pretty simple.

The question is, who is the best d pair in the NHL?

Seabs and Keith are definitely amazing but they are not the best current pair in the NHL.

Actually, here's a correction, Weber and Suter form the best pairing in the league.

Illogical is a stretch, they've played a ton over the better part of a decade. I get that they haven't played a lot together, so far this season, but they are always thrown together when needed as was demonstrated Friday in Anaheim.

Come playoff time, they will be slapped together again when needed, as they have a familiarity level that few other pairings league-wide, do.

For my money, regardless of how little they have been paired together this season, they are the best possible defensive combination around the NHL today.
