I am just happy with Bennett's play to date. Who gives a poop about the playoffs this year. Another year in the build—let's put the cost in for Austin.

Ortio was a complete tire fire his last game, he needs to be sent down to Stockton & get games & his confidence back. Ramo let in that horrible 1st goal, just horrible & you could see the leaves start to wilt after that. He needed some big saves & didn't when the game was still tied. This team has no swagger. They have talent but their is just nothing that I see can get them on a roll. Gonna be a long (frank)ing year.

Not sure which version makes that message more effective, but for all that is holy in this world, why are we playing a 30+ year old goalie with no term left on his deal instead of the guy that may or may not be your future.

Totally agree. Send him down for conditioning for 2 weeks, Give Ortio the next two and if he genuinely poops the bed, send him down and see if he clears... At least give him the chance to show what he can do.

Sooooo..... you guys think we should play the young kid who has totally lost his confidence & has a worse or as bad record at this point of the season & send the experienced 4.5 mil/per year goalie down to the minors. I think you guys have lost it. Ortio needs some starts, Gilles is injured & so is that Poulin they recently acquired. Makes way more sense to bring Ortio up once you traded one of Ramo or Hiller & they kid has been able to string some wins together and better than a .900 save percentage down in the AHL Sending Ortio down is what I would have done as well. Keep your young future goalie if you guys feel that strongly about it from this poop show we have seen so far this year.

TJ Brodie had a bad game ...he's allowed to do that ...for every game he is a liability there are ten he is one of the best on either team ...I can live with that ...I can't stand bollig taking penalties ...every time he goes to the box it's a goal and we usually lose by one ...and the wideman penalty was a brain cramp too ...just dumb plays

As for Ortio ...I liked him last year but everyone is acting like he is the second coming of kipper or something ....he was called up while playing the best hockey of his career and the hot play continued ...he had a good preseason so what ...any oilers or Canucks prospect does well in the preseason and we bring up the fact it's not against NHL regulars ...so why not do the same for Ortio ? Right now hillier and ramo are better options and who knows maybe Ortio goes on a run and gets confidence back ? Maybe the gillies injury is more serious and they want Ortio to play more ?

On the plus side Johnny gaudreau has been stellar this year ...he is turning into an elite player in this league ...Sam Bennett is looking like a Calder candidate ...so not all is doom and gloom ...hopefully they can string together some wins now

I agree that Ortio belongs in the minors right now but i don't like the possibility of him being claimed. I think think if he gets claimed this move will come back to bite us.

Yep! What have we got to lose at this point? Hiller goes down on a conditioning stint and spends two weeks getting some playing time. The issue is NO ONE will pick up Hiller or Ramo with their contracts yet Ortio who is 23, $600K price tag is an easy grab. All I'm saying is send Hiller down for 2 weeks, give Ortio a couple of starts and let him prove he deserves to be here or, if not send him down. At least you have a better idea of what you have. As for trading Hiller or Ramo, who???? No one is out there! If no one grabs him, the point is mute and you run with Hiller Ramo and he gets called up if needed. But if he's grabbed and those two poop the bed, what are the options? ZERO! Its Oilers central in cowtown!

NO ONE is claiming Ortio is the second coming but he's equal to the options we currently have. Goalies take time to develop. The idiocy of having three goalies on one way deals is the issue and always has but I'd rather have the future or the potential of the future locked up rather than the two fringe starters we have at 1/10th the cost

Name me 1 team that doesn't have some talented young goalie in the AHL that doesn't have a better save% than Ortio right now. Really, hate to burst the bubble, but Ortio is a young goalie with potential. One would have to question whether he is a legit backup at this point. I think your concern is unfounded & will be eased when he does clear waivers. At that point, you have to agree, Ortio needs to play regularly in the AHL. No one is picking him up.

ya ortio has been bad this year, but it's not like he was given a lot of opportunities. I mean hiller and ramo were both horrible for parts this year too but they continually got second chances.

If thats the case, meh. The only saving grace is he's on a one way deal. Otherwise exposing him on waivers is dangerous ESPECIALLY if Gilles is out long term. I guess wait and see... No sense arguing or speculating if he doesn't get picked up BUT if he does...

Still haven't seen so much as a tweet from the Flames site or a post about it on TSN (both immediately reported Smid's conditioning stint). Also haven't seen any reports of Hiller being taken off the IR. You guy's sure Ortio was even sent down? You'd think if he was they'd have him penciled into the lineup along with Smid

Relax yall.....nobody is claiming Ortio. Word on the street is he's so pathetic in practices that Hartley can't even give him a shot in a game. Not saying he can't develop further, but he's clearly not ready.
