Way to go Flames!!! With regards to Hamilton... Imagine having to give a 22yr old time to adjust to to a new team and new system... All you people that have already given up on him already will be eating crow by the mid season mark... |

Good to see Kari's starting to round into form! Starting to look like Ortio's going to go through waivers next week when Hiller comes back. I wonder if he'll be claimed? Patty Loubo and Wills seem to think he might clear because he hasn't been a dependable starter.. |

What team will pick him up & before you answer that, remember that if you pick up a player on waivers, he has to play with the big team the rest of the year. Ortio was a tire fire last game & his .868 save percentage isn't a good thing on his resume. Every team has a decent goalie like Ortio on the cusp of hopefully making the big break through. I would bet money on this site that when Hiller comes back, Ortio does indeed get put on waivers & he does clear waivers Then he can get some starts in Stockton. |

Brodie was unreal last night. Loved the third and fourth lines as well. NJ did a pretty good job of containing our top two lines. Hamilton is starting to really impress me. His skating is so smooth.
Going to be interesting when Hiller comes back. Heard on the Fan this morning that Gillies is real close to returning for Stockton. That will give the Flames 6 goalies on pro contracts. Some decisions will have to be made pretty quick. |

Hiller has been injured for a while...Gio is turning it around hopefully
Major injury and tons of time off
Flames in general have been playing much better of late despite results that are still so-so |

Really? That's good, I was hearing rumblings that he might require surgery on his hip |

Hamonic is not a bottom 3 defender. He is a top pairing righthanded dman that is on a great contract. If you want to know what it will take to get him, ask yourself what it would take to trade away Brodie and that is your answer |

I'd like them to take a look at Hamonic as well, but I think other western-canadian teams might have an edge over us.
Most likely destinations in my eyes:
Edmonton
Winnipeg
Vancouver
Calgary
Edmonton could look at dealing one of their forwards (Eberle perhaps) and Winnipeg could look at swapping a dman with them (maybe Buff if it doesn't look like they'll be able to resign him). |

True, but he's also diminished his value a bit by asking for a trade and requiring it to be closer to home. I'm not sure what the situation is (family wise?) but I kinda get the feeling that if his demand isn't met he will be taking some time away from hockey (or that could be his threat).
If the Flames could get a deal of something like:
Russell
Tspoon
Granlund
for
Hamonic
I'd be pretty pumped. However, I don't think the Flames will be "in" on this particular deal.
....but BTL has surprised us before |

On the flames he is... playing with dougie on the second pairing which means he would be the 4th dman, meaning he is not in the top 3, meaning he is in the bottom 3! |

Hmmm would be nice, but not sure if we have the pieces to make it happen. Not sure anyone in Western Canada does. This could get interesting!

Not even close!! And to our beloved band of losers up north, if Chia fails to get this done, he has failed that organization more then any other GM they have ever had. Your biggest need, sitting there on a golden plater. He can not afford to NOT win this race. |

I like Dougie but I think, at this point anyway, Hamonic is better. That makes him top 3. Regardless, whatever # he would be labeled with his skill dictates what he is. And he IS a top pairing D. |

NYI wanted another D to begin with. I doubt we could get this done but maybe offer Wideman (retain the exact difference between their salaries-something like $1.4mil), Russell, Hudler and a prospect or pick and get a little something else back. I think that makes them better today at least. I think they wanted another G too, didn't they? |

They're looking for a reasonably young defenseman who can play +22 minutes a night.
Russell is all we have that is expendable and matches the criteria. |
