I saw a rumor online, so take it for what you will but Foligno and a 2nd (Minnesota's) for Hiller and Kris Russell

I really think Hiller would be a great option to pick up. He is 33 and still has some quality hockey to play and is on the last year of his contract. A 3rd round pick should be enough to get him from Calgary. You could also possibly use him as trade bait when the deadline comes and Lehner is back. Chad Johnson has played a couple good games for Buffalo so far but I just don't see him as the guy who can lead the team for 2+ months.

I'm cool with the 4 goalies we have for the next 8 weeks.

I agree, Russell is a nice Dman who we need desperately. If he was to come to Buffalo I would hope we could sign him for a couple more seasons.

It's a tricky position because even though lehner's injury is long term, it's still early in the season, he's young and the expectations for this year were fairly low. Wouldn't surprise me if they just took the hit with the 2 goalies they have now (or maybe give ullmark a shot) till December.


Edit: on the other hand, that rumoured deal is something they should have explored anyways during the off season since it potentially upgrades both positions beyond this year.

They ain't giving up Russell. Very well liked in Calgary.

It's a shame too because Lehner was having decent game before deciding to go dancing behind the net.

They'd never go after scrivens, at this point post concussion lieuwen and post double hip surgery ullmark are upgrades over him.

idk...I just don't feel the sabres should give up anything for a goalie right now...way too early and besides, it's not like their playoff life or any title hopes depended upon it

I hate the Flames but Russel is a very good unassuming stay at home D man. Calgary has zero interest in moving him.
