They've got a couple of off days now... Hopefully they shuffle the lines a little bit... I agree with loading up the top power play with Crosby, Malkin, Kessel, Hornqvist and Letang

Maybe try another game with Crosby and Kessel together... If they still can't click... Let Malkin play with Kessel and Hornqvist up with Crosby...

Hopefully coach will give Sprong a real opportunity and play on the top 9

It's ok because we loaded up with skill. And of course there's the old 2 addegaes it's only October I'll worry about it in march or all we have to do is get into the playoffs and we will be fine.

BTW, is RW the only blogger on here who never engages with the readers of his own blogs? Too good for us, eh? Maybe he is too busy qualifying for the Corsi Olympics.

You win the home version of #chasingthecorsi. When you catch a good one you watch it drop of the table, then you get to chase another Corsi it's great fun to be had by all

My main problem with last night's game is a problem I was having last season. They wouldnt always have lackluster starts alot of games last season but they'd only usually battle hard for fractions of the game. If they play as hard as they did in the 3rd last night every period, every game then I wont care as much if they lose. However, to look uninterested and not compete in the first period and end up losing the game just doesn't sit well. Honestly I think sometimes a team coming out flat has to do with coaching. A coach should fire up a team. Johnson doesn't seem like a fiery coach at all.

I myself admit.....and I've never played the game anywhere other than the street.....I was among the apparent minority who thought splitting up Sid and Geno on the PP was a good idea; but it currently looks so mediocre that I'm beginning to change my mind.

This issue is if it was 60 second shifts then it can arguably be worth a shot splitting them up on the pp but when the first shift is out the for 1:40 And Geno gets 20 seconds then what's the point of even bothering and wasting Genos talent. Besides the pp is garbage at the moment you might as well throw everything at them and hope that it turns itself around at some point.

The Pens hired the wrong coach for this team. It has been as simple as that for over a year, and we'll continue to be frustrated until he's replaced.

"Son, we live in a world that has goals, and those goals have to be guarded by men with hockey sticks. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Mr. Average Fan? I have a greater responsibility than you could possibly fathom. You weep for the loss at Dallas and Phoenix, and you curse the Penguins. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know. That those losses, while tragic, probably saved the season. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, wins games. You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me behind that bench, you need me behind that bench. We use words like "loose puck battles", "competitive work ethic", "compete level", "generating chances", "get the puck to the net more", "come out of the gate better". We use these words as the backbone of a life spent trying to win hockey games. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to anyone who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very entertainment that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said thank you, and went on your way, Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a hockey stick, and get a PTO to see if you can make the team. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to."

Geez, I am friggin bored and frustrated. I am going to go punch some drywall.

Quotes not working.....top shelf, I agree. I know we want better defensive structure, but this system has really stifled our superstars offensively. I'd "almost" rather have the DB wide open attack....atleast that was fun during the regular season.

I really want to see Perron back with Sid. The guy is giving everything he's got right now. I also thought Plotnikov really clicked with BB and Bonino. That could be a really good line.

Precisely. I was never in favor of hiring a psychopath like Tortorella, but maybe if he can tone down the insanity a little, would be exactly what this country club needs.

Our current coach (Native American name: "Deer Caught In Headlights") provides no leadership. Our current captain provides no leadership. Neither one kicks anyone in the ass when that is necessary.

They settled for the last guy that they interviewed and that was available. That is weak sauce. They should have named Guerin or similar an interim and kept on searching. Nothing good happens when you settle for the last thing on the current list.

Well, if they keep up this start to the season there's a decent chance he gets fired

If they do it soon enough theres no reason a good new hire can't turn it around.

Probably the best we can do right now is.... Jacques Martin?

Unless they go way off the board and get Tortorella to give up his TV gig.
