It's incredible the national media attention and love that the NHL has for Voracek. Despite giroux being the captain I feel like Voracek is slowly becoming the face the franchise. He's beloved by every player you talk to, every media member (so it seems) and organizations a like. You wonder if it'll help us in the future to be a premiere destination for free agents beyond just those from the Czech Republic.

Seems like not long ago, we were ragging on the guy for coming out of the lockout a little chunky.

Gotta give the guy (and Jagr's influence) at little credit. He worked hard to develop better off ice work habits and elevate his game and we are all enjoying the results!

Voracek will never be the face of the franchise but he's sure showing signs of being the Leclair to Giroux's Lindros. Guy is all heart.

I still can't believe we got Coots and Jake out of Columbus and all they got left with was Jack Johnson and their richards flapping in the wind.

a thought...

why not send Umberger to the Phantoms...doing so, it will save the team 900,000...which they can then sign one of the veterans that are out there...

replacing sub par players with decent players....

Keep an open mind. Giroux has never been picked high in an all star draft. Never been captain team Canada and was even omitted from the team and has never been called the best player or one of the best at his position from another player. He's liked but you wonder how well liked. Now look at Jake picked early and called one the best rw in the world by toews who has Kane on his roster. And toews decided to play him with him on the same line. He has players on record saying they came to Philly because of him. He is his nations captain for national games and the biggest thing since jagr.

Giroux and Jake are both necessary to long term success but outside of Philly I hear more Jake than giroux. And it could be a product of his big season was more recent. But I still could see Jake becoming the face you see on NHL network

Hextall traded for umberger I think he's going to be given the opportunity to show us what he can do healthy. Manning our 8th defenseman who won't sniff the ice being sent down is more likely at 625k savings

That might happen by Christmas, depending on how Umberger is playing.

I do think Hextall wants to give Umberger the benefit of the doubt.

If healthy, Umberger could be better than any of the veterans that are out there.

There have been three drafts in All Star history. Giroux went 25th in 2011, 7th in 2012 and 13th in 2015. Voracek went 6th in 2015. We can tell you're desperately reaching for a narrative by bringing up All-Star drafts, but maybe do some research first?

Voracek is captain of his country but Giroux was was of the main guys on the Canada team that just went to the Czech republic and got a gold medal, while the Czech's got nothing. One country is much stronger than the other, so Voracek being captain doesn't make him better than Giroux.

A healthy, rejuvenated RJ could be a great addition to the bottom six.

Good guy Jake. I expect 85 from him, and 80-85 from g. Raffles hits 30 goals, 15-20 assists (if he's healthy all season)

Jake will be their captain for the Olympics when all players are on there. Giroux might not even make it.. again. I'm not claiming Jake is better than giroux I'm saying is he the face of a franchise.

Couts and Jake for Carter

That trade is robbery no matter how you slice it folks.

The Richards deal was a steal too. Made out like bandits on those 2

EDIT: also what? Mason for Leighton and a 3rd??
