Henrik said that they're going to have one more chance to win. It's not going to be this year or next year; it's maybe going to be the last year on their contracts."

While we all know this team isn't going to win poop this year or next, this quote won't exactly rally the troops in the locker room this season.

That is kind of funny but I respect that. Wondering if the talk of the possible run during the last year of their contract means they have had discussions with management regarding managements plans and their own?

I respect the honesty. Respected Naslund's honesty when he said they choked that time....

They knowthat management is going to take a run at a couple free agents next offseason and develop some key players on ELC's. They'll have one more kick at the can hopefully.

I would not be against this.

I hope some of our prospects turn out to be top 6. Even if they are more 2nd liners than top liners, I will be happy if some of them develop as regulars.

At least he had the guts to say it like it is and not sugar coat it wit standard responses. I'm thinkin more like 5-7 years...

Quoting Nucker:

I can't understand for the life of me why hockey players give such canned safe interviews...

If the Canucks want a decent return they'll definitely need to retain a good chunk of salary. But damn if they went to a team where they're the 2nd line...

Henrik's more of a realist than some of the Benning lovers here

Who knows. There's not a lot of precedent for a trade like that. It would depend on where their game is at, how many teams are interested, and how much salary the Canucks are willing to eat.

Definitely would be very high as the Canucks would have to take crap back as well to offset salaries. So never happening

Yeah, I'd expect a camp dump involved.

Isn't really going to affect the dressing room dynamic. It'll just help them pull the underdog card.

True. They did seem to use that effectively last year and played well against the top western teams.

They won't consider a trade until the last months of their last year of their deal. They won't have to eat any salary to make a deal, their contracts will only have like 2 mil left to pay at the deadline right?

I guess thats kind of a good thing though, increases the value in the deal. Vancouver would have to be willing to take a bad contract which means they would get the value of Sedins plus the value of taking a big/bad contract.

Still might have to. Teams are unlikely to have 2m+ in space in the last two months if they are contending

Great news, we get to waste at least 3 more years before we start a rebuild, goodbye playoffs for at least 8 years.

Henrik and Daniel may walk into training camp next year look across the room and see Sbisa Weber Clendenning Corrado and Bartowski as 5 of the top 6 D , look at each other , turn around and say "Oh hell no ".

Contracts can't be reworked, it's 14 mil for the next 3 years.
