Hey Ryan, what's the latest on the connection between the pens and franson?

If that's the case, isn't he going to starve?

Great to hear management is finally recognizing what has been successful for other teams.

If Matt O'Hara is a specialist at preventing injuries, maybe he should be on the Pens staff because they need everyone staying healthy, not just Brittle Beau.

It sounds to me like Beau has matured a little and started to take it serious, that could be VERY good, definitely a positive sign !!!

I think the one year contract was his real wake up call. That reality had to hit him pretty good. Everyone else in his position, the Pens have given 2 year deals to.

Yeah, but he'll just be an RFA again next offseason, so it's not like they're consciously giving up control on him.

But you're right that other RFA's have gotten two year deals.

Hopefully Bennett is putting more pressure on himself than he's getting from the organization. He's still very young, let's hope he's not useless again this year.

Hardnosed. You could very well be the most negative person on HB. Lie to me and say we are getting him for 2yr with a 1m cap hit.

mr nosed is far from the most negative... in fact he is one of the few people on this forum that is willing to go against the current when it comes to the irrational negativity directed at certain players.

A quick look at the stats on NHL.com says that Tampa Bay (ranked #14), New York (#20) and Chicago (#21) were not good on the Power Play (Pens #3). Where they were good was 5 on 5, ranked 2, 1, 4 respectively.

All Bennett has to do is be consistently healthy and he will get better as the year goes along. I could see him finishing the season with 40 points if he does stay relatively healthy

I'm one of the few around here who actually likes my team and its players.

But Franson sucks, the Penguins can't afford him, and the Penguins don't need him.

Quotes not working but I might not a agree with Hardnosed on a lot of things but one thing you can't say about him is that he's doom and gloom like a lot of the "trade Malkin crowed".

lol im not part of the trade malkin crowd. I'm part of probably the biggest group of them all in the get rid of scuderi crowd. So if we get rid of him and have 4.5m in capspace... we should do something productive with it.

I want to trade our 5 chihuahua puppies for a potty trained unicorn with kitchen skills, but that doesn't mean it's going to happen.

How in the world did you find that? I was watching on the computer and took a screen shot. That guy is just awesome, sitting there all stoic in his Mario hat and blanket. Things weren't going very well at that point in the season IIRC, so I figured that guy deserved to see one more Cup win.

I think someone in here called me an old man that night, too.

Depends on what's being given up to get him. Hell yes if it is Sutter and/or Scuderi. If it's Perron or Kunitz I'm not sure it'll be worth it.

Scuderi can't be moved. Sutter is going nowhere.

If they wanted to move those guys to add cap via a UFA, it should have been done long ago when there were far more useful players out there than Franson.

I mostly agree with you on that. I doubt anymore significant changes are taking place. But I'm not ruling it out entirely either.
