Shawn Matthias... net 20... OK. Admittedly I loved the guy when he was here. But I don't see him scoring 20 unless you stick him next to Kess... oh crap. Well, that won't work. |

He scored 18 playing in our bottom six with a bunch of nobody's, don't be so sure. He's big, but doesn't use his size, and he's streaky....but still a good player. |

This is also a perfect way to describe Jimmy Hayes, whom we just traded away. |

Call me crazy but I don't think they signed him to win anything. He's simply a stop-gap NHL'er to fill out their roster. |

Great signing, was hoping we'd scoop him up. |

Well knowing Laughs they'll definitely want two 1sts, McDavid type prospect and $5 million in cash.
If they are lucky they'll get a 2nd. Most likely a 3rd or a hit or miss prospect. |

not sure they are going to get that much at $2.3M cap hit unless they retain half... he is still a bottom six player and $2.3M might be a bit too much for teams come deadline day. |

Not that he deserved more.....but I thought someone would overpay. Now T.O. has an affordable asset to move at the deadline.
Surprised he settled for a 1 year deal. 3rd str8 year Leafs poach Canuck cast offs on a 1 year deal. |

Mike Babcock will get whatever he wants |

So, a guy who has never scored 20 goals, will do so this year, playing with a offensively challenged team.
Not only that, but he will do it in 65 games before being traded at the deadline.
C'mon Ek. Just report the signings. No need to throw in a ridiculous prediction to go along with it. |

He's on a 1yr deal.
The Leafs are made of money.
They will eat as much as they have to (if able) to maximize his return. |

Remember when Jason Blake scored 40 for the Islanders? Know who was the third-leading scorer on that team? Mike (frank)ing Sillinger, with 26 goals.
Not sure if Satan and Kozlov were banking them in off Sill's ass, but point is, someone has to score occasionally. Might as well be Matthias. |
