Not sure about this one...

No offense meant, but how could somebody be impressed with the avs' d last year?
Beauchemin is a good pickup for the avs in my opinion. |

Hey man. Everyone gets inflated contracts during free agency. Avs could have done a LOT worse. |

Its a bit much but I bet at least 5 other teams were more than willing to pay him that, Its free agency, every contract is player friendly and because of how weak this years pool is average players are gonna cash in even more |

Wow! Hey, great for Beachemin, I love the guy, my oldest has his sweater, but that's just ridiculous .

This is a good deal all around. Picking up an older D gives the Avs some much needed help and allows their D prospects to mature over the next couple years. Beauchemin had a good year last year and ate up lots of ice time.
It's a band aid, but that's what they need right now. No free agent signing is going to make the Avalanche D significantly better and this is a fair price. It's an overpayment but completely within the scope of normal free agency.
I imagine the Avs took at stab at Sekera as well, but wouldn't commit to $5.5 million for six years. |

I have no problem paying the ducks TOI leader 4.5 for 3 years. It worked out pretty well for them last year being at the top of the standings. Plus this gives players like Seimens, Bigras, Wood, Meloche some time to mature and join the team when ready. Don't know why people are shocked by the amount and term, this is free agency people. |

Also signed Blake Comeau to a three-year contract through the 2017-18 season. |
