why does everyone want to trade Emelin

we only have 6 regular Ds with Emelin
then we got Tinordi as 7th D

unless they sign a top 4 D, I wouldnt trade Emelin

This buyout should clear a bit of room for a trade.

Would love to see Oshie in MTL... not sure we have the pieces to get him.

PAP's rebuy is a move in the right direction.

A lot of people think it is space disponible for Frolik's signing. It makes sense but MB will need to shed more salary in order to get it done.

I'm pretty sure one of DD, Plekanec or Emelin is gone. Two of them if Sharp is really coming, but that makes alot of moves in one summer.

The only way it makes sense is if Emelin goes in the trade, along with the 1st pick next year.

Subban
Markov
Petry
Emelin
Gilbert
Bealieu
Pateryn
Tinordi

Thats 8 defensemen that should be in the NHL next season. I beleive that Pateryn and Beaulieu are ready for a regular spot next season (which makes 7 regulars).
That being said, i'm sure management would love to keep all 8 for depth but would they be able to respect the roster limit and able to get some help infront?

because he is a third pairing dman making over $4 million. our top 3 dmen combine to make over $20 million. cannot afford a salary like that on the third pair. if they can move him for syphilis they should do it.

how can you lump Plekanec in with those other 2? terrific defensive center who scored 60 points last year. he's the only center that does his job day in, day out during the regular season. and they all suck in the playoffs anyway.

Emelin is not a Legit top 4. Subban, Petry, Markov, and Beaulieu are your top 4. 4.1 million for a bottom pairing D? I'm sure there is a better/cheaper option available either in the system or from another team.

And now with Looch going to LA, there go 4 or 5 games where he Emeilin is actually effective.

Agreed, i dont get why does everyone wanna trade Plekanec. He is an EXELLENT 2nd line center. Imo one of the best 2nd centers in the league.
I'd much rather trade Desharnais...

Plek like most of the team was MIA in the playoffs.. but Plek was ranked 25th center last season... that makes him a 1st line center here or a very good 2nd line center on any team.

All of that with once again a revolving door of wingers( or whatever the expression)

At this point, I'd rather keep DD and trade Eller.

I disagree... None of Chucky, Pleks or DD should be a 3rd line center.
That is why I'd rather keep Eller over DD, specially considering his size.

Chuck would be your 3rd line center in an offensive role while Plek would still go against the biggest matchups. Mitchel or DLR on the 4th line would be your grinding/checking line center.

2 offensive lines with 2 checking (one of them still generating offense).

Fans want to see Chucky at center... sure! But he's not gonna suddenly become a 1st line player over night. Ease him in while DD contributes next to Patches.

My hope to see somehow:

Paccioretty-Plekanec-Williams
Galchenyuk-Sharp-Gallagher
De la Rose-Eller-Weise
Prust-Mitchell-Smith Pelley
Flynn

Markov-Subban
Beaulieu-Petry
Gilbert-Pateryn
Tinordi

Price
Tokarski

Gone:
Desharnais
Emelin
(Not that I don't like them but they have to go for this to be realistic under the cap)

There is one reason why MTl can't do the same job in the playoffs. Our best center and our 2nd D are inexistant.

CanT, win when 15M$ (i include Plekanec, DD, Markov) is a no-show.
