I like this deal... looks like Mitchell took a paycut to get longer term. I can live with 3 years, he is a good bottom 6 guy with face-off ability.

I don't think Flynn will be back.

Bergevin is running low on cap space and while it is conceivable that all three are signed under the salary cap max, that would leave little to no room for any additions on July 1st. It will be quite interesting to see what the trick out of Bergevin’s sleeve will be!

Quite sure MB makes a couple of cap saving moves before July 1st

Yeah, cap moves are now mandatory. Not sure who goes and for what but next season is going to be a cap strapped season. If we are lucky one of Emelin, DD or Eller will be gone; though I get the sinking feeling that Plek will be gone since he is actually worthwhile to other teams and we could get back a 2-3 million dollar contract in return. As much as Plek gets some hate, he is a consistent 60+ point (20+goal) per season player, always a plus +/- guy. He is good in the face off circle and great on the PK... also rocks a solid tactleneck.

He will have to make at least a move, if not 2. Considering 3M$ per is reasonnable for Galchenyuk and you have to take Tinordi's, Pateryn and another prospect into account, he is right on the projected 71M$ cap.

For the love of God please dump the two E's Eller and Emelin, but especially Eller. Banish him to the Coyotes. Wouldn't mind seeing Plekanec go as well, providing we find a centre to take his place. So sick of his disappearing act in the playoffs.

Our 3 centers are tradeable.

MB will do the right thing. Trade 2 of them, keep thegood one. Place Galchenyuk at center and get a good one to play 1st line for 2 years.

Speaking of more D... Big Buff could be on the move.

Wouldn't mind having him in our lineup.

Although he'd have to play on the RW

Agreed. The only guys i want to see playing centre next season are chucky, DLR, Mitchell, and whoever we can get via trade (Staal, O'rielly, Backes, etc.)

Ok, say for example we get O'Rielly. Our centres would be O'Rielly, Galchenyuk, DLR, and Mitchell in that order. You don't think that's a pretty decent lineup?

I agree that MB needs to make a couple of moves. I would be ok with a small step backward this year if it puts the team in a better position the following season.
Chucky needs more than a 10 game stint at C before they give up on him. Time to trade Emelin/Eller/DD/Pleky/Gilbert or any combination thereof and get some scoring in return. Tinordi and Pateryn...time for them to move up into the line-up or ship-em out for picks.

Not sure which 3 centres we are talking here. Current 3 centers, DD is probably not tradeable although MB has worked some magic before to unload players. I actually would be OK with DD on the wing. Plekanec is the most tradeable as far as getting a return back. Eller is tradable but probably not worth a whole lot and you then create a hole in your lineup.

I'd trade Pleks if MB can secure a replacement for him (Staal, O'Reilly, etc.) or as part of a package for a scoring winger.

I would guess MB will try to fee up cap space by trading a defenseman. Gilbert is probably the one that is the easiest to move. Maybe Emelin. MB also does not need to sign Galchenyuk until after Free agency but you run the risk of him getting an offer sheet.

I doubt we get ROR.

Wouldn't mind having him on the team. A bit expensive but a beast.

Great signing, Mitchell has great speed and works hard. Now get Joe Thornton already. Don't bye into the media crap about him not getting it done. If every player that hasn't won a cup doesn't get it done doesn't that include most other centers available. Thornton puts up points consistently, elite playmaker for Patchs and wont be pushed off the puck like what we have now. Get er done!!

ROR makes sense, considering COL need badly a top 4 D and take back Markov +. Other teams needing D include CAR and SJ, curious to see if E.Staal will be on the move. He would be my target to center the top line.

I also believe DD will play on the wing next year...

If ROR is demanding $7mil i take a hard pass on that.

Like the guy and would pay him $6 like he's currently making but i do not see a 60 pt guy being worth $7 mil a season...at least not yet.
