So a question or two for you Ryan.

Looking at this years available F, do you think a trade be made to try & fix or fill the top 6? Or do we try & gamble with the market so we don't give up assets? Next years market looks a little better but can we wait that long?

Is there anything in the grapevine about resigning some of this seasons players?

Getting in before the trade Geno comments.

This team cant afford to trade anybody.they rolled 5 d-men for a ten game stretch going into the playoffs. I think the times of dealing all the draft picks r done time to stock the cupboard let the young d come play. Develop guys and and push sid and geno to make them Better and be great. Cause lets face it the first half of their reign hasnt gotten the results we've expected

Everyone wants to trade Kuni, Scuds, Sutter for whatever picks they can get. But that really doesn't do this team any good. Those picks, IF they turn out won't contribute until 71 and 87 are 33 and 32 years old.

Sutter paired with Harrington or Dumo might bring something back that can help now.

Trade is the route they're going as per Rutherford. Dont know who they're targeting or what they are willing to give up but you can definietly know that the following are not getting traded: 87,71,29,58,51,3,72. Everyone else in play & yes, that includes Perron

Of those players that are deemed "tradable" What would you realistically give for them?

Can't quote but if they can trade scuds for any pick at all it's a win due to his cap Hit.

I think they should offer to eat 1.25-1.5 mil of his salary for both years just to be rid of him now. You get a bit less than a buyout for the two years, but you don't have to have the two extra years of a buyout.

But I'm also confident that Letang and Lovejoy is enough veteran presence to hold down our young D, assuming we stay healthy.

Letang-Mattaa/Pouliot
Mattaa/Pouliot-Lovejoy
Cole-Dumoulin/Chorney/Harrington

Yes, Lovejoy might be better on the 3rd with Cole being up, but lets give Lovejoy the benefit of the doubt first. He was solid here until everyone got hurt and he was pushed into extra top line minutes.

edit note: Also, Mattaa is now in his 3rd season, he shouldn't count under a young/rookie status. Same with Cole and or Chorney. Both have been around a bit longer than most act like. The only two who don't have a full season would be Dumoulin and Pouliot.

I agree, good post

The bolded part would be the best option.

Tried to quote you D Post guile... Didn't work. But yes I agree with you D assessment. Than I'd try and sign guys like Davis Drewskie and Jamie McBain to 2way deals for injury insurance. Those guys have NHL experience but have falling off the radar enough they should accept a 2way contract ala Chorney.

I wonder if Nashville would have interest in Sutter if they can't resign Ribeiro and/or Fisher (I don't think they even try to resign Santorelli). Maybe a Sutter+ deal could be make for Craig Smith

Fisher isn't leaving Nashville.

PHX has probably the worst centers in the league. If they can send Sutter + BB/D Prospect for Boedker that would be huge.

Boedker is a 3rd line caliber winger. He plays a lot in offensively favorable positions because Arizona is terrible so he produces more than he is worth.

He is an upgrade over Kuni, Comeau, BB, young and PHX could use support down the middle.

I agree with the assessment of Boedker. He doesn't generate many shots and has never scored 20 goals and he's going to be looking for $3.5mil+.

I cant wait to see the players with 12 goals on the season and great possession numbers that the Pens should go after.

I lied. Should be number one priority though after finding top six help. Other teams will be offering him more though after the beaut of a season he had.
