No.1 pick for the 2016 NHL junior draft. Missed this year because he fell two days short of age eligibility.

Seems like a good move for him. Hope it works out. I'm a little curious how the Swiss league compares to other European leagues in terms of competition level.

Plus European women. Ryan this is the most serious question I have ever asked on hockeybuzz. Do you know anywhere where you can order like a 6 pack of those sticks?

Should have went to Finland. Probably the closest to North American hockey.

Make it so every NHL team can get 2 CHL transfer exceptions. A max of 60 players a year will be allowed to play in the NHL or AHL.

Yeah Inthink there should be a way that at least 1 18 year old CHL per NHL team can play in the AHL.ita all about CHL retaining some star power....but it would sure boost the AHL if they had some future greats sprinkled in there. Not saying there aren't any now, but the top 5 picks never seem to get to play there. And overall it's good for hockey.

While I get that, the transfer rule gives no thought of whats best for the kids.

An NHL team drafts a kid, signs him, and then is dictated on where they can play him in most cases for 2 years.

I'm actually surprised that the NHLPA isn't more into a change. Gets more guys to UFA status earlier or allows them to earn higher pay earlier.

Yeah, in the end, it benefits the players above all else....but what a boost for the AHL if they had a year of Stamkos, Tavares, Hall, ect..

Agreed.

IMO just speaking about the team I root for. Grigorenko and Reinhart would be so much more ahead of the curve had they been able to play in the AHL at 18. Also allows the team to use the slide rule. If he's not ready to play in the NHL at 18/19, it gives the team a 5 yr deal instead of a 3 yr deal. The kid gets his signing bonus (which in most cases for players like that is 92k) as pay and the team gets a more NHL ready player at age 19/20.

In the end it's about giving the kids a greater chance at NHL success.

You can find some there no doubt. Might have to fight the brothers and cousins to talk to them though.

I'm surprised more teams aren't behind it as well, send them to the AHL to learn the system and have them come in the next year knowing how to play

hopefully more and more top round talent does this and makes the CHL realize they need to look hard at the situation. Whats more likely is the CHL finds some way to ban this from happening.

I think the kid (Emmanuel Mudiay) who played in China professionally instead of college NCAA basketball this year opened peoples eyes

He's being traded.....

The AHL is bush league. Good on the kid for going to Europe.

On what authority are you making that claim? Because you have been calling for his trade ad nauseum since we got eliminated?
