nah...no chance in hell they trade it...

I mean, who do you trade Jesus for? Aristotle, Copernicus, Mozart, Dylan, Picasso and future considerations?

none can walk on water or bring the dead to life, right?

I'd take McLellan and last week I heard the talk was Richardson but that is subject to change.

Another SOLID blog. Us Sabre fans have been spoiled by your excellent writing.

Regarding the coaching situation, I am not counting on the McJesus of coaching (Babcock) coming to Buffalo. I think he ends up with a team much closer to the playoffs and Stanley Cup (maybe the Sharks, Flyers or Blues depending on the Hitchcock situation). I would personally like to see McLelland land in Buffalo but I think he will also be in high demand. I don't know much about Richardson or Boucher but either of them might be a nice stop-gap measure for the next 3 years or so - to teach the youngins' how to play at the NHL level. Regardless of whomever they hire, I just hope they have some systems in place and they teach them how to run a power play and kill penalties.

I also enjoyed your piece on Compher. Glad to hear the Sabres aren't screwing around with him. Let him develop in college hockey. It seems like he Sabres finally taking the right approach with their kids vs "Grigorenkoing" their prospects.

Michael, there has been lots of chatter on this blog lately about the Sabres potentially emptying the cupboards for a ROR or Kessel type player. Maybe you can write a blog about the implications (positive and negative) of trying to speed up the rebuild.

Great stuff as usual, please keep it up......

That's the problem, we don't anymore STOP GAPS, we need a proven NHL coach with system that has to be installed and these players can learn from it and have success. We don't need a 3 year system and then another system to learn again.

Well, you say this, but then say we don't NEED Babcock. There aren't many coaches out there that fit the description you are looking for.

I think we should hire a player coach. One that preferably has a sound defensive system, but can also score 30 at the RW1 position.

the same neighborhood that houses Hall of Fame head coach Scotty Bowman, who happened to have won three of the aforementioned Stanley Cups Detroit brought home between 1997 and 2002.

Scotty's house backs up to Transit Valley CC. A nice view indeed.

Babcock will have more pressure on him to win NOW with the Oilers then any other team. He will be in hot water every game.
