On behalf of TML, I accept that trade. Unfortunately I haven't received official notice from them that I have this type of authority.

I'm sure the bike messenger just got sidetracked. The notice should be there soon.

So trading Bernier, leaves the Leafs with Reimer as their #1.?? The UFA goalie market is a weak one also.
Personally, I'd rather have the 9th overall selection in the draft most years. This year is a different beast.
Maybe they can get a goalie in return for Kessel, Phaneuf or whoever they trade. They would need something in place, IMO, before trading Bernier. Or tanknation is back for another year.

I feel as if the leafs got offered that trade they would have to make it. Imagine being able to draft hanifin/strome and barzel/rantanen/zacha. That would be huge for them going forward.

tank nation is here for a few more years. Next year will be worse then this past one.

In all honesty though, If I'm Toronto I take this and run. SJS get a decent young goalie, Toronto gets a valuable pick for a rebuild. With #9 then you take Barzal if available or Werenski if not, and then go to the bar and start clinking glasses

Comparing Schneider to Bernier... I think their ceiling is the same but Schneider seemed like more of a sure thing then than Bernier does now.

But you already have a league average goaltender, why trade #9 for another one?

Bernier is a better than league average goaltender, everyone just wants to hold the Maple Leafs against him.

No thanks we will use the draft pick at 9. While I like Bernier we have other assests availble to make that trade. This is our higest pick in years and we need a top D man. A top 10 pick has too much value to relinquish this go round.

I think Zack Werenski suits the Sharks. Especially if Mueller doesn't significantly progress and Burns moves to forward (where he belongs).

Burns made 2 all star games & team Canada as a D man. Will remain there, and only get better in his own end w/more work w/Robinson.

Mueller will progress fine, but will still have some "rookie mistakes" due to his improper, limited use this season.

Trade up for Provorov, or take best available player @ 9 regardless of position. Definition of "best available player" will be subject to scrutiny.

Burns makes the all star team because he gets points, not because he's a good defenseman.
He belongs at forward.

Was traded for and given huge extension to be Boyle's long term replacement, not a winger. Like I said last week, you don't pay big money to a winger who only manages 22g in a season, while being set up by Joe Thorton.

You do however, pay big money to a 60 pt defenseman with his size. He was only moved to forward because of his hip injury at the time.

Was originally a forward who was converted to D. Still learning the position & was set back by the switch back to forward, instead of being shut down for the season.

Burns progressed in the right direction all season long in all aspects of defense. The Sharks have a very valuable top four D-man in him. To put him back to forward would be a huge mistake.
