Good write-up but I don't understand the hard-on he supposedly has for coaching McDavid. It seems out of left field. None of Babcock's comments would lead me to believe he would go to EDM just to coach McDavid, and that is a really ridiculous claim to be made. To "go wherever McDavid goes".

Also, between Boston's aging core, and Philly's closing "window, I don't see how those odds are so damn high. I also would not want part of Toronto if I'm a coach, that team needs to sort out its mess before I commit to them. And Pittsburgh has 2 superstars and not much else.

I'm not being a homer, but honestly, Buffalo seems a lot more stable and set to their course than any of the other teams. We changed ownership already a few years ago, management is in place and we've built a solid roster moving forward with a great prospect system in place.

Maybe Scotty Bowman is whispering in his ear, "If you're a family man, Buffalo is the place to go".

I'd say 10,000 to 1 odds is an obvious insult and a serious "dis" to the city from a media who loves to hate on our town and sports teams.

But we will see.

Great write up and i really appreciate the connections you made like the pegulas and babcocks vacationing at the same lake or the more obvious ones likre Murray and Babcocks time spent in Anaheim. Weigh that against coaching one phenominal rookie on t tam that has been circling the drain for years and i think the sabres have a little better shot than 80-billion to one or whatever it was stated!

Yeah no way Babcock is chasing McDavid where ever he goes. That's a ridiculous concept. It's gonna depend first on where he and his wife want to spend the next 6- 10 years of their lives. By the sounds of it his wife gets 2 votes and then will be on the team and where they are right now as far as their organization and chance to win. If they wanna go somewhere hot it'll probably be San Jose, If they wanna go back to Canada it'll probably be Edmonton because Toronto is a mess right now and his connection to Chiarelli or maybe they want to stay in Detroit. If winning is everything St Louis is his best shot.

Even if the Sabres were cup competitive i'd rule them out on Babcock. He wants to be a coach who has a big say in personnel decisions, given what we've seen of Murray so far I'd say that's never happening.

Actually he has been quoted saying that he doesn't want more control then what he has now. That he is a good at what he does and doesn't have any desire for more responsibility. He was quoted by Sportsnet as well as TSN saying that.

Except as of right now he already has more than what the average coach normally has. He may not want more, but he definitely won't want less and I can't see Murray giving that to him.

(don't know why this site won't let me reply to anyone)

Anyway, based on what? I hope it's not based on him not conferring with Nolan on personnel decisions, because you know as well as I do that Nolan was a lame-duck coach.

so the bills think they have the best QB's in the NFL yet the Saints draft a QB and the Rams draft a QB even after they get their franchise quarterback

and then you have to jets taking our quarterback and now the bills are going to make up some bull sh!t story saying they never wanted him..they should be drafting a QB every year now there's none left.. you are not going to win sh!t until you get a QB

Am I the only one who sees the irony in a fan of a team that has lost 247 of it's last 376 games saying "you lose, again"?

I still think EJ Manuel could be a top 15 qb. Look who his offensive coordinator was. With the running game and defense top 15 is all you need IMO.
