John Jaeckel: Q Nails It In Game 3 - John Jaeckel
On a previous blog, just prior to the series start I predicted the "Teravainen" over/under at 2 games. I nailed it!!!!
Send prize at your earliest convenience.
(OH, great game by the boys. More of the same Tuesday I hope!!!) |

Yep ..It would be nice to get a little more out of Vermette but I think that will come with time . Darling looked a little nervous at 1st but who could blame him big National spot light . I have know problem with Verstieeg that line is just getting it timing back and he is playing with some snarl . |

It is pretty clear Shaw grabbed Ribeiro's left arm in the play. Shaw hardly reacted to the incident which pretty much sums it up that he knew what he was doing. Good for him to try and get an edge and honestly he should have drawn the penalty.

I just don't see how the Preds have any real shot at this series without Weber and Fisher. I'm not saying they would have won with them but without them, no way. |

Will be very tough. Is suspect Fisher will try and go tomorrow. |

Agreed.
I think they can win another game, but the Hawks are killing the Preds in the dot without Fisher as they miss the physicality brought by both Fisher and Weber. I am hoping Fisher is able to play in Game 4 to give them a decent shot. I personally think Weber is out for the series...but I hope I am wrong. |

It's becoming clear to me that Versteeg has been given a role: Agitate and keep attention away from Kaner to free up some space--which he seems more than happy to do. He can also keep up with 88 as well.
Further, on a line with Kane is about the only place he's worked out much of the year. Not saying he doesn't have his warts (maddeningly so at times), but he's largely doing what Q expects of him IMO |

Hey JJ, enjoyed your suuport of Chi-town boys on the Pred board. Needed to get back into the Preds heads. As pointed out yesterday the Hawks really tried to go high blocker on Pekka when they could and Rinne was not all that spectacular in any area. |

Not being mentioned much but Kane looks about 85% at best to me. |

I agree, put TT in for Versteeg on the secon line with Kane and Sharp. It will be two wizards and a sniper taking care of business. |

Any word on what it was? Just a fluke injury? I mean, the Saad hit happens 43785623489760 times a game and didn't look that hard (I've never been hit by Saad, so I'm just saying it looked benign to me).
Wait, don't tell me....."Lower body injury". |

Glad that Q did exactly what I suggested in the last blog. That is to fix that 4th line by sitting TT and Nordstrom. Love the new unit -a great playoff line.
On another note. Calgary coach gets fined after the last game for supposedly putting out the wrong guys in the last minutes of the game. What the hell -he didn't bring them in off the street -these are guys off his bench. So yesterday he plays his kids and smaller players at the end and they get pummelled.
Questions:
1. What does Hartley do now and not get in trouble with the league??
2. Does Vancouver now face the same league consequences?? |

Yep Yep Yep.
Q is right more than he is wrong.
Go look at the history of the Hawks with him...he made huge lineup decisions in 2010, 2013, and even last year that either aided the Hawks in winning the Cup or go em close.
I still go back to his 2010 decision to SPLIT UP Kane and Toews and move Ladd up from line 3 to the top 6 that basically took that Philly series from a big question mark to a quick close out.
We also have to remember the Saad/Shaw/Kane move after the Dings got up 3-1 last year...that move damn near got us another Cup. The cynic would say, "why didn't he do it sooner?".... the optimist says most don't even make that move and that's why Q is doing what he's doing and I'm doing what I'm doing. |

Yeah...they aren't saying anything. But the way he went down, I have to think it is his knee (maybe ankle). Just a fluke thing at the worst possible time. |

I think Kane is avoiding those "dirty" areas and Steeg is trying to get in there a mix it up a bit. Those passes which were on the tape in Nov-Dec are just a little off. Before we go and toss Kris out I'd give PK some time to work up to game shape again. Looking at Kane minutes they are stilll sheltered. |

Kane looks tentative and not very dynamic. |
