I know nobody on here likes Sustr but he will be back as well so why no mention of him, so hopefully when the Bolts start the playoffs 5 of the regular six D will be in the lineup and I think they will get Garrison back sometime during the first round. If the Bolts are going to far they need Hedman, Coburn, Sustr (Yes him), and Garrison back and playing.

Looks like Killorn will be back in time as well. I don't fault the Lightning for taking the passive approach to these guys and though I wouldn't really like it I am ok with none of them playing in the last two games and be rested and ready for the post season.

I just want the next two games to be clean for the Bolts in both play and injuries.

Him, like Barberio are playing for the futures here and to me, neither have proved a thing.

Good news on Hedman and Coburn. We need to get Garrison back too. As far as Sustr goes, I am surprised that there has been no mention of him anywhere too, but I will say I don't believe he is any better than Nesterov or Koekkoek. In fact, I would rather have one of them than Sustr.

I have watched Sustr closely all year and why he is no means great when given limited minutes he plays well enough for a guy with around a 100 games played, he is surprisingly good when pinching in the ozone. That said when they move him up the lines and increase his minutes he struggles mightily and looks horrible but I will take him on my third pairing over Koekkoek (too green right now) and Witkowski (not sold on him at all). I like Nesterov and would like him paired with Sustr over Barbs. When Barbs and Sustr are paired together its a train wreck.

Left Sustr out because I don't really view him as a cog that will make or break the Lightning's hopes this spring. Hedman and Coburn can.

Nesterov needs to find a little more consistency, but I'd rate him higher then Barberio and Sustr.

I think Koekoek can and should be top 4 in the future.
I think Sustr has a chance of turning into a shutdown 4-5 dman.
I think Nesterov should be a solid 5-6.
I think Barberio is no more than a 5-7.

Now my head hurt from thinking too much.

Koekkoek was re-assigned to Syracuse so that means one of them will play tomorrow since he was emergency recall. All guesses point to Hedman

What the what?

Our defense core in two years:
Hedman Stralman
Carle Koekkoek
Coburn Nesterov
Witkowski

Carle ain't moveable
Give Coburn a similiar deal that we gave Brewer

Koekkoek played very well in those three games. I don't see him in Syracuse next season.

Agreed that he played very well...however with the depth in front of him unless some pieces are moved higher likelihood he isn't. His upside is too high to be on the roster as 7th d-man so playing time in Cuse would be much more beneficial

I would say next years 6th dman is Koekkoek or Nesterov.

Someone has to be moved in this scenario, which is highly plausible but unless it happens there's no room.

Regardless of pairings top 6 next season is Hedman, Stralman, Coburn, Garrison, Carle, Sustr

Sustr is on the bubble at best. He's not a lock by ANY stretch of the imagination. Nesterov is better.

Why? Who would have to clear waivers next season?

B/c of the top 6 I listed. Koekk's isn't going to ride the pine as 7th d-man

No way can I agree that Nesterov is better (right now). His sample size is way too small to make a statement like that IMO. Put him out there for as much as Sustr played this year and he would wear down and make mental mistakes just like Sustr has

What automatically makes Sustr a lock for the top 6?

If they resign Barberio or Sustr both would have to clear waivers. Witkowski will have to clear waivers next year as well. Koekkoek has two years and Nesterov will have one year of waiver free transfers.

Going to be interesting to see how they proceed with the D corps after this year is over.
