Hockey in the NHL is a trainwreck Refs don't enforce the rule book, the game has become soccer on ice. It is just not exciting anymore to watch. I can imagine how the casual fan looks at it. They just hold their thumb and forefinger on their nose because it stinks

That fact that often during this season we've seen comments and articles popping up asking "What's Wrong With Sidney Crosby?", and he's still leads the league in scoring (while missing 5 games), illustrates how good he is.

But to be fair, Patrick Kane and Tyler Seguin both had bad injuries while at the top, as well as this being a goalie's year and players won't even hit the 90 point mark for the season. Down year for offense in general point wise. Yeah Crosby had down year, but if the other players didn't have a down year then Crosby wouldn't have had such an easy time getting back to the top.

I heard a quote from Lou Lam over the weekend. Talking about the GM's have been discussing getting more offense into the game.

Wish I could find the exact quote, but he was saying how he doesn't see the need. He thinks the NHL is great right now.

Old bastard needs to go away. He's one of the biggest reasons the NHL product is like watching paint dry these days. I haven't seen so many "bear hugs" in the game since before the lockout.

Was it just on this site or discussed as well in the GM meetings about potentially increasing the height of the posts on the nets for more goals?

Crosby's statistics aren't the problem. He is a perennial top scorer. In my humble opinion, his leadership or lack there of presents the problem. The slamming of his stick on the ice after a call/no call, or his daily whinning to the refs has created a culture of entitlement. The PENS don't have the heart that they had when they won the cup. Look out for those ISELS!!!! And no,,, Im not an ISLES fan

I saw this too. I cant believe anyone in the Newark area actually attends a Devils game. Unbelievably boring to watch. What Lou's teams have done to the game of hockey over the past 15-20 years is borderline criminal.

Soccer is very exciting if you actually know the game.

But yes, hockey in the NHL right now is b-o-r-i-n-g.

Clutch and grab is back, baby! Let's make it so third liners and fourth liners are just as important to the game as stars. Let's make goalie pads bigger and bigger and BIGGER! Everyone goes to a game wanting to see possession, blocked shots, and 2-1 games! What great fun!

Just curious - his scoring/points. How many are attributed to secondary assists vs other top point leaders in the league? The reason that I ask is that in Europe, I don't think secondary assists are given out ...

I'd rather it be the norm than be such a rare occurrence that it's considered an explosion. OK, maybe not 7, but like 4 or 5.
