Couldnt agree more with this:

In looking at all of this, perhaps the Buffalo Sabres shouldn't be berated because to their scorched earth rebuild, as other teams look to be positioning themselves for the best odd of winning the sweepstakes (save for Columbus.) Perhaps the Sabres should be looked at more as having good timing and any scorn may be derived moreso from jealousy than from indignation.

Only the Sabres fans will see it as good timing for a rebuild. The rest of the league will view it as a two year tank, which doesn't even make any sense.

We can throw out all the charts and stats we want, I doubt it changes any one's mind.

Im fully convinced that McDavid is the reason for everyone's Hatred/jealousy.

Where was everyone saying the Sabres are an embarrassment last year as they were as bad as this year and landed Reinhart.

I feel the same way. No mcdavid/eichel and this would be a non story.

Good thing the NHL is changing the draft lottery

For humor's sake, heard one of the funniest things perhaps in a long time a few minutes ago on WFAN from NYC.

One of the big Rangers fans suggested that due to Talbot's strong play recently, if the Rangers win the cup, they should contact Buffalo and trade the King for Buffalo's 1st pick this year.

The best part was the caller was ACTUALLY serious.

26 Matt Moulson – 22 Johan Larsson – 63 Tyler Ennis
82 Marcus Foligno – 84 Philip Varone – 12 Brian Gionta
44 Nicolas Deslauriers – 20 Zac Dalpe – 19 Cody Hodgson
49 Jerry D’Amigo – 59 Tim Schaller – 37 Matt Ellis

only way this could be a worse batch of 12 skaters was if Peters was on the list

Blah blah blah so tired of these whiners in the national media. Everyone wants McDavid and/or Eichel, and of course the only outlets that are complaining about the bottom 4 are the same ones well out of reach of either of them.

The only reason I think why any of us refer to this as tank is because "rebuild" can becoming annoying to say. Team like Toronto are tanking. They tried, couldn't make it to the playoffs, saw the possible light at the end of the draft tunnel, and decided to abandon ship. Even then - can you blame them? If the Sabres, or any other team didn't try to position themselves to draft high, fans and media would just criticize them for spinning their wheels and going nowhere.

I'm actually looking at that thinking its too good for our intended goals.

Moulson - Not up to snuff this year but has been on the ice for way too many goals lately. Larrson - Dam kid is hungry, and it scares me. Ennis - Can't he just fake an injury? Foligno - Not enough turn overs. Varrone - Another hungry AHL'er. Gionta - I wish he would return to early season form. Delaurias - I like this kid. Dalpe - Played good in ROC lately, which is not good. Hodgson - . D'amigo - Don't get any ideas kid! Schaller - You too. Matt Freakin Ellis - He needs a lazy streak.

there is a number of things that validate our rebuild, not the least of which is that a gm was brought in that wanted the organization to go in a completely different direction. the core players that were here were deemed to have the wrong makeup or skill set for the new direction, and several were on second or third contracts that were expiring anyway. last years draft was not considered great, nobody cared. this years draft is considered exceptional, so we are suddenly the bad guys??? sorry, pending ufas were moved out, kids were left in the ahl and juniors to develop, and we have met our obligations by keeping our payroll above the floor. sorry the timing doesnt work for other teams, it is what it is.

when the team rolled 3 lines, there was no pressing need to have legit first line players

once they changed the style, got thin at center they were doomed

you can't expect 2nd liners to be your first line deep in any cup run
