Jason Lewis: The Emergence of Brayden McNabb

Great write up Jason. McNabb has done well and I like how he's matured. I think if we can get A-mart back we can reduce the playing time for all those who need it. I think Green signed a 4 year extension did he not?

That he did. My fault.

Good to see he's doing well. He showed signs of being a solid top 4 D-man in his limited time with the Sabres. And he hits like a freight train.

I totally agree Jason, good write up. I think with McNabb's emergence, Martinez can take his time and make a full recovery. I'm actually nervous to see who sits when Martinez returns, I hope it's not McNabb! Maybe Sutter can rotate Green and Regehr every other game to rest them for the playoffs. I wasn't familiar with Sekera prior to the trade but apparently he hasn't played up to his expectations yet. Hopefully he'll be comfortable with the King's system by the playoffs.

I agree, I think Mcnabb's play has been good this year. Those hits he puts on in the D-zone are just brutal. Once A-Mart returns we should be good to go on the blueline.
Sekera will only get better as the season goes on. GKG!!!

kings hate the regular season..........no sweat they will do what they have to....WE hope.

Sekera has looked better the last four periods or so. I dont know if it is because of McNabb but I have yet to be too impressed with him. Time will tell, nice to see stats that show the Mcnabb deal is working out.

Kings are nothing if not patient with young players once they are committed to them; remember how many fans wanted to throw Muzzin over the side in his early days.....

Interesting comments regarding the Sekera/McNabb pairing; a lot of fans felt the Regher/Sekera pairing was trouble and that seemed to be borne out......

16 games left, 10 on the road. Those 3 games vs the Canucks loom large.

He has been fantastic, especially as a young defender on a team that prides itself on defense. I hope Regehr comes out when Martinez comes back, with Greene being my second choice. And we'd be foolish to re-sign Regehr, let McNabb have the spot full time next year

And Martinez

And now McNabb

and Shore

It gets kind of tiresome how quickly people want young players to step in and be amazing. The NHL isn't easy yo.

Also, I share the curiousity and nervousness of McNabb's place on the roster once Martinez returns.

Sutter seems hell bent on giving Regehr minutes. I don't see him going from first pairing to pressbox in favor of McNabb when Amart comes back.

shore? maybe if they gave him more to work with we could have a better basis of evaluation. skating with clifford and nolan didn't make richards look like an art ross candidate now did they?

the regehr play has run its course...he'd be better off as an insurance policy in the pressbox than a minutes eater at this point.

Whatever happens will be a work in progress.
I was going back and forth regarding the Sekera trade....do you think Forbort and a second would have been a better or worse than what was done? Just curious what JL would prefer

Given what the Kings have in the system it was better to part with a guy like McKeown.

The Kings have Leslie, Ebert, LaDue among others as good puck movers. Forbort is steady in the defensive zone which is going to be way more of a necessity in a few years.

And let's not forget maybe the best of the good puck movers, Colin Miller.

I think one of the bigger questions with Mcnabb is how will he do with less protected minutes. I was looking at this the other day and while Mcnabb has some very nice corsi numbers he also has a very high percentage of offensive zone starts and against the weakest competition compared to other kings D. Regehr is playing against the best competition and with the most starts in our zone (and getting killed). Darryl is so conservative with young players that that's not likely to change as long as other Kings D are healthy.
It will be very interesting to see what happens when AMart is healthy. Can Alec do a conditioning assignment in Manch?

Dude are you even watching games? First of all, muzz/doughty give up a lot of quality scoring chances, and this season they were flat out getting outplayed. Now this may be muzzs fault (it was) , but he's been (or seems) better since being dropped to a lower pairing (2nd or 3rd). Exact same thing can be said about McNabb and sekera. Really? They should be getting minutes over regehr?!?! Our gaa and pk have been outta sight since regehr has been on the top pairing and top pk unit.
