I just don't know how to quantify what McIlraths trade value actually is. Slats was able to turn Sanguinetti into a 2nd and 6th round picks. Who knows what he can do. |

Hes a young tough righty, someone will overpay. As long as we get a piece that helps this season im fine with it |

Talbots inability to challenge shots and know his angles isnt a good sign. Does Skapski get the start today? |

Realistically, none of us know how good or bad McIlrath has really played this year. He could've taken some great strides or shown he will be an AHL player for life. Who the fack knows what he's worth? |

i live in norfolk, so unfortunately the only hockey i can watch is the admirals. Which isnt bad, seeing heatley every weekend. Such a treat.
but, when hartford was in town i obviously went to see the games. 2 guys were absolute standouts:
Dylan Mcilrath and Ryan Bourque.
i think he still has enough upside that he can be part of a package for sekera/vermette/someone similar that we really need

What about McIlrath's game made him standout? His physicality? Was he consistent defensively? If yes, was it due to skating or positioning or angles?
Do you think he could be a regular NHLer? |

Very consistent, confident and decisive with the puck, more physical than half our blue line now. Has a good shot and moves well with the puck. I know hes got a rap as a tough guy or whatever but hes a good 2 way defender.
The easiest way to explain is he looked like he knew exactly what he was doing. You know you see guys out there who look lost, and not in control of themselves? Bad passes, holding the puck too long, trying to make a hit at the wrong time etc.
He never took himself out of position or made a mistake he didnt immediately recover from. A very good IQ
And yes i think within 2 years hes playing somewhere in the NHL |

My guess for what McIlrath or Allen's trade value is; somewhere around a 3rd-round pick. |

I'd rather play him as our 6th defenseman than trade him for a 3rd round pick. He has the toughness this team lacks and should be given a chance. |

He also lacks any type of speed. Also in today's NHL, you can't afford for one of your defenseman to be an enforcer. Just doesn't work. I'd be more than thrilled to same him to phoenix alnog with a draft pick for Hanzal. |

Like Hanzal's size. Is he good on face -offs? |

Yeah but he cant stay healthy. Vermettes going to be too expensive with other teams driving up the bid. Id like to see them go for santorelli, thompson, or tlusty. All are serious upgrades for a third line center |

Tlusty a LW now, only taken 15 faceoffs all year. |

Off topic but John Moore has played really well since coming back, and regarding Mcilrath there's just no reason to move him now. If it gets you a good piece then you consider it, but absolutely no reason to move him for just a pick. Wasn't Klein in the minors until his mid 20's? I still see no reason why he can't become a solid 3rd pairing right shot dman. |

Never thought I'd miss Brian Boyle, but he was great on face-offs in dee zone. We never replaced him adequately. |

Always liked Santorelli. His cost will be high even as a rental.

Anybody like Chris Stewart? You would think he might come cheaper than some of the other alternatives for a depth forward. |

rferrone actually watched him play live, so he's got a bit of merit here. The bad skating knocks are based of 3 or 4 year old scouting reports on McIlrath from the draft. |

Without seeing him live this year, his stat line hasn't shown it. He's taken the most PIM on Hartford he has one of the worst +/- on the team, his offensive game has slow down tow. Over the next 20 games he needs 10 points to match his total from last year. |
