definitely a big one tomorrow. Last time we played Florida on New Year's Eve was one of our more dominating games of the season. Panthers really do look like the only team that could possibly catch the Rangers if the Rangers went into a severe tailspin.

The Flyers have started to play very well but we still have 4 games in hand of them and they are behind 9 points, no concern over them.

But yeah, losing tomorrow to Florida would start to make things a little interesting in playoff race, can't let it happen.

Didn't get to watch the first half of the game live but that Nash goal just personifies his season so far. Excellent defensive play leads to offense which leads to a goal on a shot that makes you say "how the hell did he put that in the net?"

Jets are expected to pursue free-agent-to-be CB Darrelle Revis to see if they can bring him back to New York, per sources.

It is crazy that this year it seems that is a battle for playoff positioning, not to make the playoffs. I have never seen it where the top 8 could be 10 points above the 9th seed

How bout this stat from #NYR/Elias: Jesper Fast leads #NHL in shorthanded ice time without being on 4 a PP goal against this season (35:19)

I hate to admit it but this stat makes Hagelin more expendable though I still wouldn't trade him

That stat is weird...Does that mean Fast averages 35:19 of SH time between PP GA? Or does it mean he's played a total of 35:19 on the PK and the team hasn't scored a PP goal with him out there? Because then a guy like Hagelin could have played like 200 minutes of PK time and been out there for only 3 or 4 goals which is just as good or better than Fast's stat.

True but it probably has been around the same time

Zipay mentions acquiring Hanzal instead, just more proof of this thread's influence

Well Hagelin has played 98:27 and Moore 103:46 SH so I'd be curious to see how many total goals they've given up across those times.

Would you do the deal that he proposed of Miller, Moore and a mid round pick for Hanzal? I would be leery of dealing Moore and then replacing him with a guy like Hejda, to me Miller, a 2nd and another prospect for Hanzal is acceptable

No way. I'm too high on Miller personally and not that high on Hanzal. He'd be a nice addition, but not for those 2 young pieces. I'd rather have Vermette.

I want to see Miller excel with us too but Hanzal is signed for 2 more years at a nice cap hit, 56% on faceoffs and is 6'6", attributes that help this team immediately plus I feel Miller is a winger and not a center

Miller is definitely better at wing than center. If you get Hanzal, Hayes likely also moved to wing with Moore as the fourth line center. You could flip flop Moore and Hanzal plus having those two and Hayes gives you depth in the middle. Would hate to give up Miller as he starting to scratch the surface of what he can do. Moore looks to be expendable after the season given the likey cap hit but that leaves you with a hole at the sixth d-mn given that Hunwick hasn't locked down a spot and Boyle has been less than stellar.

That's why I'm more (pardon the pun)hesitant on including him in that deal, I would still try and trade him for maybe Methot or Sekera if there isn't a cap issue, I do no want anything to do with Hejda

What I like about Miller is that he seems to know how to throw a hit, and he isn't afraid to do so either. Some guys have been getting wrecked by Miller this season.

I think trading Miller would be a huge mistake. He's only 21 and will be a solid winger for us in the near future. He has offensive potential and plays physical. If we can get Hazel great, but not at the expense of Miller IMO.
Hags, Lindberg or Borque plus a pick?

Even though Hagelin is a FA and you may not be able to keep him after the year, you are looking to improve to make another Cup run. You are trying to replace Stempniak or Glass not Hagelin, so the gain you get in Hanzal would be lost a bit in you deal Hagelin

I just don't see enough offensive upside from Hanzal to warrant that asking price. He's not the key missing piece IMO.

Hagelin doesn't fit IMO when you move Hayes to wing and keep Miller on the wing. I would love to get rid of Glass or Stempniak but why would Arizona want either of them? Plus Hags is a RFA not a FA. Arizona would be able to keep him for a few years or trade him with more value as a RFA.

yeah man, that was some Caps-Blues game, watched whole thing. I think Backes deserved suspension for hit on Alzner, that was nasty
