Anyone interested in a Maple Leaf defenseman from their upcoming fire sale? How about Jake Gardiner with a 4.05 cap hit for 2 more years, or Cody Franson at 3.3 with an expiring contract?
Obviously some money would need to go the other way. |

Is it January or February when the Kings start their annual ascent in solid team play, start winning enough games to give them confidence going into the playoffs, then go on a run??
We all know its coming right? Or is it just me thinking this? |

This pretty much describes the Kings:
Based on past experiences (like the 90s) I expected the Kings to bottom out sooner. Darryl had a habit of burning teams out in the worst way. Maybe that finally happened. Or everyone is having a down year at the same time.
Statistically they're a middle of the road team. Their penalty kill has been crap.
Its weird. The Voynov thing, the Richards decline, lots of injuries this year. Quick hasn't been great either.
Oh well, maybe one less team to worry about. |

The Jets are this years Avalanche, but with better defense...and Frolik |

What would you guys think of targeting Andrej Meszaros from BUF for the third pair?
cap hit currently at 4.125 mil and Im sure its not a huge deal for BUF to retain salary if they could move him for another pick/prospect
He definitely wouldnt be that expensive to obtain IMO |

Franson would add some size, and he could contribute in hits as well as offense. How is his game defensively?
Beyond that, I'd have to figure that the asking price would be high. What would it cost to acquire Franson? |

You're not alone in that thought. |

Everyone knows the big UFA dmen trade targets out there are:
Mike Green
Cody Franson
Marc Methot
Marek Zidlicky
Jeff Petry
I think most of those guys create a bidding war and the hawks can fly in under the radar and steal someone like meszaros for cheap and would be a great fit for them |

If the Coyotes are in "sell" mode, you can probably add Keith Yandle (I know he's not a UFA) and Zbynek Michalek to that list of available defensemen. |

I can see someone like Yandle wind up going to the oilers for someone like Eberle

I'd imagine that Yandle has some sort of NTC. If that's the case, I doubt that he'll waive it to go to Edmonton.
Then again, stranger things have happened... |

I know capgeek is gone, but according to BR, Yandle lacks a NTC

Lots more Dmen will be available if a team wants to pay enough of a price (which Stanbo won't).

Really....What team? The Flames who overachieved when they did well?
The exact opposite has been true in LA....Great coach like Babcock in not putting too much emphases on the regular season.
You might want to check their injuries and other issues that have depleted the Kings this year....To blame a coach for burnout after winning 2 Cups in 3 years doesn't make much sense. |

Mike you're not alone in your thoughts...meantime plenty of other teams to think about...Ducks and Jets jump to mind.
As far as Yandle he's still got another year at 5.2mil on his deal. Can't see the Hawks taking on that contract unless somehow a good portion of that is retained by the Yotes. One would think the Yotes will have several suitors willing to pay the whole freight on that deal. |

Rundsblad isn't even a #6, he's an injury replacement in effect making him a #7. It's a true #7 the Hawks are in need of. |

Maybe not the best of G.M.'s but Darryl is a terrific coach, best of all his brothers. |

My prediction for tonights game.
Hawks 5 Kings 1
1st goal by the hawks will be a 2 on 1 against Muzzin produced by a Doughty turn over at the offensive blue line.
2nd and 3rd goals will come on the power play: 1 from stoll hooking the other will be doughty for tripping.
4th goal will be caused by quick playing the puck out of the net.
The kings will then get their meaningless 1st goal of the game from Gaborik which will be a rebound from a low shot by dustin brown.
5th goal from the hawks will be another 2 on 1 produced by superior foot speed.
There you go. you guys don't even need to watch the game. |

No one better except for Babcock maybe on playing the regular season to get to the playoffs on a roll.....
2 Cups in 3 years is a great accomplishment, especially theses days and they didn't do it with smoke and mirrors.
