Well that was a gift.
Anytime you can trade a sack of poop for a decent bottom 6 C, I'd call that a win. |

Lapierre hasn't been an agitator since the Boyle suspension. Don't mind losing him at all. |

Goc is a pretty solid player - nothing special mind you but won't let you down. I think GMJR want more spice in our bottom 6. Downie was brought in this year but has been playing top 6 & going OK when he doesn't lose he plot which he is getting a lot better at. So having him as an agitator negates a top 6, so bienvenue Maxim Lapiere. I hope he & Downie don't go bananas together! |

Well said. Reaves and Ott have been taking care of the agitation while Lapierre at times was looking like a fish out of water. I'm guessing they're hoping to get a bit more offense from that line or at the least more offensive zone time without sacrificing defensively.
Now swap Berglund and a third for Antoine Vermette and they'll be set. |

Thats a steep price to pay for a rental in Vermette
Blues will not give him an extension at the number he is asking for.
Why do we need yet another center? Are you wanting to push Vermette to RW or Statsny? |

Goc is the better player...I wish him luck on STL. And abject failure Thursday. |

I dont disagree that goc is the "better" player, but it seems to be to be a fair trade with the qualities needed by each team going their respective ways. Goc isnt a physical player, but he will play the body, certainly not one to stand up for his team mates at least physically...we needed some strength and meanness...I hope he and downie go crazy on the flyers next time we play them |

This swap reminds me (a little bit) of the Stu Barnes and Matthew Barnaby trade. We gave up the better player but traded for what we needed at the time. |

This is a win for the Blues even if Goc falls tomorrow in his bath tub and breaks his hip.
Lapierre was a bad signing, he's a sniveling, diving piece of crap that never fit in here and I'm glad he's gone.
Never liked him. I'd be thrilled if Ott were to follow him right out of town. They are two sides of the same knucklheaded coin in my opinion. |

Many Penguins fans are happy with this trade. Goc has 8 points in 55 games for us and the number of times the puck has fallen off his stick is laughable, as well is the times he's whiffed on an easy goal. Lapierre has 9 points this year alone, and plays physical while Goc is the complete opposite. This is a trade that will help us more in the post season. |

They're both plugs. Different kind of plugs, but still plugs.
Only concern from a Penguins point of view is that Goc was never going to do anything stupid, Lapierre might.
But the uptick in grit is worth taking the chance. And the Penguins have had good luck with guys named Max in the playoffs. |

Much more physical than Goc. I don't think I've ever seen Goc make a hit let alone battle for a puck on the boards. I would have traded Goc for a box of toaster strudels |

And yet he has more hits than Lapierre. Check the stats instead of going by reputation on what you're getting with Lapierre.
Lapierre doesn't hit people. Only hits he throws are the dirty ones once every 2-3 seasons. He was brought to be an agitator, but hasn't gotten under anyone's skin. |

You guys dumped one dippoop but still too many douchebags on the team for me to cheer for them. First round exit. |

Always funny when Oilers fans talk about first round exits. Is it this year or next year you guys tie the record for NHL's longest all time playoff drought? |
