In what world is Mike Richards even REMOTELY close to or better than Bozak, let alone Kadri? Or even Mike Santorelli? Heck I would take Holland/Komarov/Winnik as centres before I even consider Mike Richards with his 5.75m cap for 5 more years.

Richards is NOT the answer. Not even close. Leafs need to stay clear unless they can send Clarkson and a couple prospects back for him. Even then I would use him to mentor the kids while we properly rebuild.

That's not going to work... Phaneuf could be out for 3 weeks for all we know, what then? juggle putting guys up and down from the AHL? Not really a sound idea... Hard to say what Richards will do on a new team. I think he'd be a great Leaf, but not having seen him play any real minutes in LA for awhile it could be another albatross of a contract... cough- Clarkson.

I think he will go unclaimed, who wants to take on 5.75m and another contract that counts towards the 50 while helping the kings out. He probably will be AHL bound and a deal will eventually be made that the Kings have to take some trash back.

If Phaneuf is out awhile, it may help the Leafs in their pursuit of a get a higher draft pick.
