Everyone keeps beefing up the NYR trade rumors, but its really hard to see them pulling off something of significance.

They already have a top contending team in the East and a big shakeup of major players is likely to hurt them more than help them, at is usually does with most teams and they arent going to be handed another golden opportunity like last year where their captain is commanding hand over fist and a top scorer sulks about an olympic snub and throws a tantrum demanding to be traded to NYR only.

On top of it, the Rangers dont have a first round pick this year, that will make it tough on them for major pieces in trades this year.

The rangers also dont have a good prospect pool to afford dealing out top prospects. Buchnevich looks like the only blue chip prospect, with Duclair looking like a decent middle six guy along with Kristo. They have a couple of dmen that look like third pair dmen prospects for the NHL like skjei and allen, but thats it.

I think NYR are in a catch 22 because they are obviously in win now mode, but an all in move on the trade front this year could severely jeopardize the future. Then again, who knows, Sather might go nuts and start throwing those prospects away along with someone like JT Miller and maybe even their 2016 1st round pick too

I just have a hard time seeing NYR being major players in the trade market given their situation without severely gambling their future or giving up too much

“There really isn’t a lot going on,” said a league executive. “At this point, I would think teams are waiting for the first domino to fall and once that happens it might open things up for teams to make moves.”

with the Rangers lack of cap space and lack of a number 1 pick to dangle, I really don't expect them to be major players.

They will probably add a depth forward and depth defenseman at the very last moment before the deadline ends to use as little additional cap space as possible

How about that snooze fest they called the All Star game That was embarrassing and a mockery of the game of hockey. And people paid top dollar for THAT. Going to a local beer league game would have been more interesting. These games have got to GO

a NYI/NYR renewed rivalry (with two strong teams) would be awesome for the league. They are peaking at about the same time, so this should be interesting.

1st round flame out !

I guess Sabre fans need something to cheer for. On top of cheering for our relevant team most Islander fans are cheering for you to lose the lottery

1st round flame out !

- Pairo11

Now a 1st rd flame out is considered a victory for the Sabres. Just a couple of months ago our 1st rd pick was a guaranteed top 5 pick How sad
