Good game yesterday.

Preds dominated the game big time. But after the goal, the game momentum changed quite a bit.

That being said, i'm totally in love with your D-squad. Pretty much no weakness.

I know Rinne is a pretty good goalie but the D might explain in part his incredible stats.

The Smith penalty was a terrible example of home-cooking at the Bell Center. But, it probably didn't change the outcome all that much. If that penalty is not called, and the Preds go to a shootout, how many Preds fans think Hutton outdeuls Price?

The bigger issue I have is some of the blatant missed calls against the Habs in the 3rd period (and in the first as well). Montreal is one of the least penalized teams on home ice in the NHL, so you don't go in there expecting to get a lot of calls.

No reason to get too bent out of shape about it. Getting a point with the OT loss isn't bad, considering MTL is in the east and giving them a ROW instead of shootout win doesn't really hurt the Preds. I thought Hutton played pretty well overall, and Price was just fantastic. Against any other goalie last night, the Preds pot 3 goals in the first & that game is history. They played well going into the break. Hopefully that bit of sour taste from the OTL will give them some fire to come out of the break humming.

You are correct about the D. Rinne is amazing & he masks some of their weaknesses (and they do have a few). But the D helps him as well. When they are playing well, he may see lots of shots, but they aren't usually high quality shots.

The D's performance this week, especially against good teams in front of a backup goaltender, is another example of why Shea Weber should be the front runner for the Norris. He probably won't win one anytime soon, unless he really piles up the points like Subban or Karlsson. Those guys are both great players so nothing against them. But I'm glad to have Weber anchoring the Preds D.

There are 10 teams penalized less or equal than/to MTL at home...including Nashville. There are 24 teams awarded more powerplays at home than MTL, again including Nashville.

Beat me to it. Habs have been getting taught a "lesson" by the refs all year. There were lots of penalties that could have been called. Especially when PK is getting bear hugged dragging a player around to the point the player tries to raise his arms as if to say" ok I tried, no penalty please".

Anyways, good game. Preds took it to them in the first half. Habs woke up for the second half. That weber is a strong sob. The only guy he couldn't push around like a boy was Gallagher. I was impressed by that. Fisher is one strong guy too. Nashville is going to be tough to beat in the west. Especially if LA stays on the outside of the playoff picture.

Thank you for illustrating my point. Montreal is one of the least penalized teams in the league. This game was not in Nashville, so Nashville's home PP or PK stats really don't apply.

In the end, anyone with two functioning eyes could see that a couple of blatant calls were missed by the Referees in the 3rd period. Further - any respectable hockey fan would admit that the OT penalty against Craig Smith was ridiculous. Just because a player falls down in his own zone does not mean that a penalty has occurred.

Either way, I think the game ended up probably how it was destined to end up. The Preds outskated the Habs on the balance, and Price outplayed Hutton on the balance. OT game - nod to the Habs.

It applies to the bias that you were suggesting about MTL and favouritism is false. I am also implying that Nashville gets the benefit of the refs at home more than MTL.

I agree that Nashville got Priced out of the game.

Montreal is 25th for PP opportunities and 28th for overall time on the PP.

Looking at PP time minus PK time they are 24th in the league with more time spent on PK than on PP. Get facts from basic locations. In the last 4+ seasons MTL has not been in the top 10 for PP time and has been a top 10 team in PK time. http://www.nhl.com/ice/te...Type=2&viewName=powerPlay

Roughly a 70 minute differential between Nashville and the Habs.

Those stats don't mean much if MTL is actually committing more penalties than other teams. They could still be getting less calls (per actual offense) then other teams.

The overtime penalty was a terrible one. I don't care what stats say, anyone can see that.

Oh, it was. But so was the non-call on Ribeiro a minute earlier.

Refs miss calls all the time, they did yesterday, on both sides.

Let's just leave it at that.

True. I think your opinion would be different if the call went the other way and the Preds won. But never the less you're right. That being said I will take out that I feel like the Preds would certainly beat the Habs in a 7 game series and that's good because the Habs are one of the best in the east.

East is weak, Habs are an average team with a good goalie, doubt they would make the playoffs in the west

I don't disagree with that at all but to imply that they enjoy a hometown bias is false.

Was it? In my opinion, a hook is a hook, doesn't matter if it's the stick. That was not a puck battle, that was a player behind and using his stick out of desperation (code).

You definately got the D. I would agree your assessment. But when you got a Goalie like Price, everything is possible.
