But according to LA fans they wouldn't even do Crosby for Williams in the first place |

I don't want to put words in bartley's mouth, but he took Weber off the ice for 5 mins. |

Of course they wouldn't. He's not as "clutch" as Williams. |

I was in total agreement with the column (except for the idea that it ever made sense to trade away Paul Martin) until Jagr crept his way into it. He's a loser who hasn't produced in the playoffs in nearly a decade. To me, he's Barry Bonds without the cream and the clear.
I honestly think the Penguins are pretty much done. They really don't need a bit player even unless there are further injuries. They're pretty well settled when healthy. |

It was actually 17:55 in the third period. so he wasn't on the ice for the final 2:05 and up 3-1. It wasn't the best idea for Weber, but it looks like he felt a little better after doing it. lol
I don't think I would want to be hit in the head by a Weber right hook. |

I dunno man, I have to disagree with you there.. 18 points in 33 games (1 goal, 17 assists) isn't exactly "not producing." I also think one of the reason he didn't work in Boston, is because he doesn't exactly fit their style or system and was also relied on to do too much. Where as here, he would not have to, he's be riding shotgun with Sid or Malkin. Jags could easily be a perfect compliment player to the guys we have. People are asking for Jiri Tlusty... who's never even played a playoff game... Christ Stewart... 6 points in 19 games... and Drew Stafford who has 7 points in 20 career playoff games.
Please, that's absurd. Give me Jagr all day. |

Jagr would do just fine in the playoffs with the Pens. I didn't follow NJ that much or Bos when they were in the playoffs with Jagr, but what sort of position was he playing for them? I'm guessing a bottom six.
Jagr still has it. Jagr at 60% is better than an average player. He is the leading point producer on NJ. |

I'm a NO on Jagr. He failed with his Boston run a few years ago. I don't see that soon-to-be 43 year old body holding up over 2 months of playoff hockey.
Plus, once again, to get Jagr, we have to send some salary the other way. No room on the books to send NJ prospects for him.
That's why I think the Williams/Martin swap makes some sense to me. The salary #'s are almost a wash. Salary out. Salary in.
I'd lean towards keeping PMart but if they pulled the trigger on Williams, I wouldn't hate it. Removes any excuses of 87 and 71 having no wingers. |

I agree completely with all of this. Won't be mad if we keep Pmart, won't be mad if we move him for Williams. No on Jagr, we'd have to overpay for him anyway. |

Nah in Boston he was playing top 6 minutes, just the wrong system for him... he still put up 10 points in 22 games.. I wouldn't necessarily call that a failure... |

I'd be 50/50 on the Jagr idea. If the team is willing to limit his TOI down the stretch, maybe scratch him a few meaningless games, then ok. I don't want a Jagr that's played 82 games 18 to 20mins a night for a playoff run.

Haha love the comments, I cant quote anyone because this thread is F'ed.
Crosby for Cooke straight up!!! haha
F Williams
Its a weird feeling when I start to 100% agree with RW on a daily basis, then again I have been talking about getting Jags since the end of last year. Still RW is 100% correct on this one.

1 goal during that time frame. One.
And he looked gassed in those playoffs, too.
And putting him out there on the #1 PP makes no sense. The Penguins have failed with a fancy pants perimeter based PP the last couple of playoffs.
They bring in Hornqvist to change that, and provide a net front presence...and then they're going to go and put him on the barely used second unit so Jagr can try to dippsie doodle around? Asinine.

Fantastic post and agree 1000% on Horny vs Jagr PP.
Horny is actually the first player I think should be on the #1 unit in the playoffs. Dirty goals win in the playoffs as we all know. |
