happy new year, lets hope its a good one...

now that the niceties are out of the way.... if they wanna (frank)ing tank so bad then blow the whole goddamn thing up! thats right trade Giroux, Voracek and Mason too! its nothing against them whatsoever infact its because I appreciate what theyve done. im sorry i watched lindros piss his career away here due to the ineptitude of the front office unable to fill glaring holes in the lineup. if hextall wants to sit on his (frank)ing hands then do it right! Dont let these guys toil away on a poop storm like this! dont make them wait to find out Morin and Sanheim are Grossmann and Coburn 2.0! this is disgusting, they have pieces like God's gift to hockey fans aka Sean Couturier, BOTH Schenn's and others and get some good defensemen and theyy can fill in the holes such a trade creates by drafting and Free agency! this is just pathetic to watch!

Thanks Bill. Happy New Year to everyone. If the Flyers are able to shed some of this season's players next season, expect a learning curve for the kids that are brought up. Thus, more of the same next season. However, I hope that they can put forth a better effort, and at least look like a team on their way up. Scotty L has been great in my eyes. He has worked hard, and tries to learn from his mistakes. The thing that stands out the most to me is that he doesn't quit on the play, and goes end to end. I can see him as the next Captain if the continues down this path. I also hope that he develops as an on ice leader, and a vocal leader. I think that is what we have been missing since Pronger left. Bill, have you heard anything about Pronger becoming a coach soon? I realize that he is still on the salary books, but it would be nice to see him as a coach, since he possesses some leadership skills, and just to see him near the ice again would be nice.

Hextalls hands are tied. You can give up coots and get a young second pairing type but that is not what they need. Luke schenn has negative trade value and Brayden isn't worth much. He's doing the right thing, which is no panic moves

Bill,

Has there been any thoughts to splitting up Jake and G? I feel G can play with anyone and if Jake found chemistry with one of the other centers it would make the offense more dynamic. Keep them on the PP together and reunite them a critical points in the game.

I personally can't stand the talk of tanking but this seasons is what it is. I don't think any moves will be made until the trade deadline, between now and then Hexy needs to determine who is part of the future and try to get assets for anyone that isn't.

His hands are tied and the 3 biggest reasons his hands are tied have 2, 3 and 5 years left on their contracts. Not good.

I don't advocate trading any of those players at all, but it does worry me that, although I agree with the patient approach to rebuilding the D, I worry that Giroux and jake may be past their prime when our D is championship caliber. Very few trades are made in today's NHL and much of the team building goes on at the draft. I just don't think there is much Hextall can do right now.

I know having a good tournament isnt the end all but it was good watching Lindblom get a hat trick. The one PP goal reminded me of Hartnell in the slot. The Flyers prospects have had success in the past in the WJC but lets hope this year brings us good luck and finally we get a guy in the 5th round that could make an impact as other teams have had!

When you know the PK is atrocious, why in hell would Coburn commit such a stupid penalty right in front of the ref? You never want to pin point a loss on one guy, but cmon' that game was right there for the Flyers' taking

The glaring weaknesses on this team are obviously the PK and immobile D that get hemmed into the zone and can't always get the puck to the forwards on the fly. Without fixing that, we're n trouble

Flyers strengths: Top line, 1st pp unit (usually), starting goalie

Weaknesses: Pretty much everything else!

Go ping pong balls!!

Hanifin is a stud. For the draft gurus how does he rate coming out compared to ekblad last year?

Some say Hanifin could be better, with the edge in skating and offensive upside. I'm not sure, but it's damned close.

Werenski and Kylington are very close behind.

Currently 6th-overall... 7.5% chance to win the lotto, and in great position to nab a franchise-altering player, like one of the dmen listed above, or Marner, Strome, Crouse, etc.

Tough to compare the issue will be is can the team who takes him remain patient if he elects to stay in college & not go the QMJHL and the team that holds his rights (Québec Remparts).

Right now yes, still a ways to go but that's a solid pick.

That was just another game that higlights the clubs flaws....and there's a bunch....discipline ....what was Coburn thinking ? Like seriously....stupid hockey.....average goaltending....they don't lose games because of their goaltending but they don't win games because of it......the d on a hole has been awful.....mistake prone...slow...in ability to block shots.....Schultz has struggled of late, but we knew what we were getting with him....Macdonald is another story....useless. He doesn't block shots now that he has a long term contract ?
My last pet peeve is coaching.....considering you can't win a shoot out to save your life....why not 3 forwards...one D in overtime ?????? Especially on draws in the O zone.....perfect win last night by Giroux in OT...unfortunately it's Grossmann instead of well...anyone!!! The team is one dimensional.....no commitment to D....Berube is the Coach....he looks lost as does his team.

TBH, I see us getting back after this mediocre road trip and playing well with a lot of home games, but just coming up short on a playoff spot because we've dug too deep of a hole.

Pretty hard to go wrong in this draft if you are in the top 8 or so picks, and the Flyers will be in that top 8.

I'd go at least top 15 in this one if not even most of the 1st round.

His backward skating is doughtyesque the way he walks the line and just buys time for a pass, incredible

They won't even come close to a playoff spot. This club is significantly weaker, especially on D and on the pk, than last years club which barely squeaked in. Also our division is stronger than last year as the Islanders and Caps are better and, now that they are getting healthy, so is Columbus.

The following teams will definitely finish behind the Flyers: Carolina and Edmonton

The following teams will likely finish behind the Flyers: Buffalo and Jersey

And, the following could finish behind the Flyers: Ottawa and Arizona.

That leaves them picking anywhere from 3rd to 8th, or, god willing, 1st.

They will get a very good player with that pick, and, at this point, it's all we really have to look forward to in the near future.
