Jim Fox has a huge problem when he broadcasts: he just doesn't know when to shut up. Even as a Ducks fan, I enjoy listening to Bob Miller but Fox just talks too much. He may be knowledgeable but he just keeps talking and talking and talking.

Ducks fans owe a lot to Gretzy. I'm pretty sure there is no Ducks franchise if Gretzkys wife didn't want to be in LA.

I'm sure the Kings fans are nitpicking Bryan Hayward, but the impact these guys have had on the hockey landscape in Southern California is undeniable.

Oh I agree he has had an impact act on SoCal hockey but it doesn't change the fact that he needs to learn to close his yapper at times during games.

It's seriously like nails on a chalkboard at times!

Exactly Ed. All of the complaints about Fox and Heyward being homers gets really boring really quick. Both are paid by their own respective teams, not an independent broadcasting company. What the hell do you expect from them? If a UPS executive went on TV and constantly berated his own employer and praised how well FedEx and the USPS were doing, how long do you think they'd be employed?
Both Fox and Heyward do commendable work and both have been recognized nationally for that work. Besides, listen to the Pittsburgh Penguins broadcasters if you REALLY want to hear what a homer sounds like

When Hayward does a national broadcast he is top notch. When he does a Ducks broadcast he rightfully shows his colors and support. That's kind of what they pay him for. Both guys can be a bit grinding and homerish but they really do solid jobs.

Give him credit I guess for his his loyalty showing his dislike of his teams rivals. When he was broadcasting Kings games during the playoffs her earned some serious homer stripes for the way he worked those games. I know that all Kings fans will agree on this. I have cousins from San Jose that don't like fox but I think he is always complimentary to the opposing team. But, of course I do see things through black and Stanley cup chrome colored glasses.

Great read. Happy holiday to hockey fans (Ducks, Kings or anyone lucky enough to have the greatest sport in their lives regardless who you cheer for)
