I know goalies can have good save percentages on bad teams but is there any indication that the quality of scoring chances on these two guys is absurdly high cuz of a terrible defense?

We're actually allowing less quality scoring chances than league average.

The .750 sv% while on the PP suggests the quality of chances being given up is ridiculous. I haven't watched much Oil hockey, but from what i've seen the D is also very responsible.

Yeah it seems like every mistake winds up in the net. If you can't count on your goalies to make timely saves, then the amount of confidence teammates have playing in front of them suffers greatly. They need at least one guy who can steal a save let alone a game.

Not really. More shots and more saves happen short handed. Shots against on the PP tend to be good chances allowed on turnovers at the blueline. It's a much smaller sample size. One short handed goal against can completely skew the numbers.

I've watched every Oiler game this year and nearly all of them the past 8 years. Four years of seasons tickets included in those years. The goaltending for the most part has not been and is not NHL caliber. It is very plain to see that they will need to sign a legit number 1 goalie and add a couple of top notch D-men for next season.
