They rushed him, they had it set in their minds he was going make the team before training camp started........ bottom line he just needs to play. Wilson screwed up with the defense by not improving it inthe offseason resigning Demers after his horrible performance inthe Kings series atleast it was rectified with Dillon......... i still have no f*cking clue what the hell they see in Irwin of all spots on the team to improve inthe offseason Irwin's it was so obvious a blind man could see it. Hannan should just be our 7th defenseman. The 3rd pair to me is the weakest spot on the team & has to be improved before the playoffs.

Wilson had to cover up his mismanagement of the offseason with his "youth movement" crapola so he keeps Mueller up with the big club...

& the world juniors will do him some good for sure, but it's still not the NHL level of play he needs to become proficient at.

Blown out of proportion. Whether he's 19 or 21, at some point a rookie defensmen is going to hit a wall. This is not a new concept.

Letting the kid go to the tournament to play a ton of minutes is a great idea. He will rebuild confidence and feel comfortable playing the game at a high level again the way he is sure to dominate.

This will also allow the Sharks time to continue to work at their blue line and create a more desirable situation when he does return. If they determine that he's going to end right back up in the press box regardless, then he should go back to Junior. He should be given a real opportunity to contribute and MAKE MISTAKES. It should not take long for them after doing so to determine if he is then truly ready to finish the year out against NHL competition.

Bottom line: we're not even at the All Star break yet. Obviously a delicate situation, but one that requires a bit more optimism IMO.

(EDIT: IMO, Mueller did not look out of place at all in the handful of Sharks games I have been able to watch him in. Regular viewers would have a better grasp then I, just my two cents)

He should never be inthe press box which is where was too much he was basically our 8th defenseman, Sharks rushed him up paired him Burns a no win situation for both players. Mirko never should've made the team out of traing camp pretty much got it by default, this all back to the offseason where Doug Wilson failed to improve our blueline...................... so yeah it's a big deal It's another Doug Wilson blunder he's real good at those

Sitting in the press box isnt always a bad thing for young players. And there are other advantages to keeping a young player up in the NHL like experience, learning from veterans, living the lifestyle of a pro (diet, weight training, sleep schedule, etc.).

He's spent 6 of the last 11 games in the press box. One game isn't a bad thing, 6/11 is.

Diet and training regimes don't have to be done around NHL players. That's information he can take with him back to the WHL. This is a botched situation all around.

I'm still a little bitter that the Sharks chose Mueller in the first place...

When they traded with Detroit to move up 2 spots, I thought for sure they were targeting Anthony Mantha... a big, scoring winger.

But nope, they chose Mueller who most likely would've still been there at 20th overall instead of 18th. And the Sharks could've kept the 2nd round pick to boot!

An injury or 2 on the blueline and he'll be back to playing 17+ mins a game with you guys. You don't have that luxury/depth if he's back in juniors. And let's not act like this kid's development is ruined for life now. He's say 6 of the last 11 games...that's not like he's been in the press box for months.

If Goodrow can get a hatrick tonight, he'll be able to land us that 3rd D pairing we need.

Ice time is development time. Being around pros does not make you better. Stop trying to convince yourself Duclair shouldn't have gone back to juniors before the start of the season.

A rookie 19 year old defenseman should not play 17+ minutes a game only because of injuries. There are serviceable AHLers in Worcester right now that can provide the same "luxury/depth" you speak of.

Kids develop on the ice, especially defenseman.

Look the Mirko situation was botched plain & simple, their plan with him this year was a horrible hence why we sent him back to juniors......... i don't know how i can be anymore clearer Mirko was basically our 8th defenseman......... that's not how develop a potential top 4 defenseman sitting him in a (frank)ing press box, gotta be done just like Vlasic you play him. we have other other guys if such unfortunate injurys occur Fedun, A-12......... plus i still think Doug Wilson will pick up a blueliner. Mirko should've never made the team this year, that's what were all basically getting at.

I think sending him down to juniors and telling him he's not good enough for the NHL will only hurt his confidence more. A real solution is to plop him on the 3rd pairing and give him sheltered minutes.

Plus if we send him down to juniors we can't call him back up, and if two guys get injured then we might need him up here.

Hey Tim just spitballing here what do think about the Sharks going after the Hurracaine UFA Sekera he'll most likely be dealt by the deadline i'm sure can be got for a mid round pick. We'd have a stable 3rd defenseman with Tennyson & we could put him on the 2nd pp unit instead of Vlasic.
