Michael Pachla: The Buffalo Sabres could use Taylor Hall, but do they need him? The possibility of Hall landing in Buffalo, especially for Myers, doesn't make a lot of sense at this point

Great Read! But I will debate Austin provides a very small presence on the blueline.

I've never seen a bigger man play a softer game.

It's ok Bo0s. It would have ended up that way regardless if you put up a blog about it or not. Nice to see your take on it

They need him if the price is right

People poo poo the thought of sending Myers out there for Hall, what if it's a bigger trade?

Schultz (run pp) and Hall for Myers, Coho, Foligno, a goalie, Pysyk and later first

The Sabres need first line players, 2 and as long as they are playing well it looks like they may not get that big name at the draft

Move enroth in the trade and they are back on tank mode, and this move would make them so much better moving forward

just thinking outside the box a bit

Wonder if Hall would just be in the same position here without a solid center. If Grigo centered him next season, he would once again, have a young, inexperienced player centering him.

He's done pretty well with those young, inexperienced centers (in regards to producing points). It's the rest of the team around that line that matters if his situation improves if he leaves Edmonton.

You must have not have been a twinkle in your father's eye when Mike Wilson played here then.

I like to stay inside the box... It's warm in there.

Myers with 2 left skates and a upside down hockey stick in the wrong hand.

How wonderful... With their good play of late the Sabres have played themselves right back into the position of mediocrity. They are blowing their shot at a franchise player so they can finish 9th again and get nothing from the draft. Man does that sound familiar....

It's fun to play, "Let's Make a Deal," and I'm not opposed to playing Bob Barker (something I'll delve into a bit at the end,) but the return for either Hall or Myers will need to be excessive and neither of those two rebuilding clubs would benefit by emptying the coffers for the other.

- Michael Pachla

It was Monty Hall who hosted "Let's Make a Deal" not Bob Barker. Either way, good read!

EJ Hradek on NHL Live the other day said he's heard from several execs around the league that they don't want the Oilers to be allowed to draft McDavid or Eichel and I even saw one of the Oilers bloggers on here express more or less the same sentiment. I doubt it will happen, primarily because I don't think Bettman has the stones to do it, but still it's interesting to see that people around the league are getting a little fed up with what's been going on in Edmonton for pretty much an entire decade.

How Wilson was traded for Rhett Warrener and Ryan Miller (draft pick) I'll never understand.

Why Buffalo will not win a Stanley Cup:

hu·bris noun \ˈhyü-brəs\

: a great or foolish amount of pride or confidence

: exaggerated pride or self-confidence

Kind of addressing this quote.....
"There's no doubt Edmonton LW Taylor Hall has top-line talent, but at 23 yrs. old riding with 21 yr. old Ryan Nugent-Hopkins at center, that upper-end skill has yet to fully blossom on a consistent basis."
.....and wondering if either Grigo or Rinehart would just be the same recipe on a different team.

We have Ennis that might flourish. But Ennis said he likes the wing better during his last interview.

"Pysyk, Hodgson and the Sabres mid or lowest first round pick this year might be something that could benefit both teams"

I love your articles but that proposal is absurd. At the very least we would have to include Myers, Risto or Zads.
