I like the approach they are taking with Hagg. He has all the tools to be a top 4 dman in this league for a long time, hopefully he can find the inner drive to make it happen.

2015 UFA Dmen sorted by age.

There are more than a few players on this list who can match the ability of what we currently have who can be signed for less money at a shorter term. We don't need long term solutions. We need a bridge to the kids.

No guarantee they will all pan out, but they need to be given the shot.

Yup. 19 years old, new country, new league... He needs to be pushed, but understanding the breadth and width of the changes he's endured also has to be taken into consideration, imo.

It's alarming but way too soon to pull the plug (not suggesting you are saying that)

No doubt, but I'm ok with pushing him some. At least he's not being scratched and told to work harder a la Berube.

He would have been picked before Giroux had the Rangers not taken him first.

He recently returned to the lineup. Missed a month-plus with shoulder.

Dear God, we would have been the Edmonton Oilers the last few years if we had made that move!

He looked pretty solid in the game against Albany in AC last Friday.

I don't even find it that alarming. Seeing him in person last week, I liked the way he moved and seemed to always be in good position. Sometimes a personality can distort the way people judge a player.

I don't care if he is ice cold out there. As long as he continues to improve his overall game that is the most important part.

Agreed. I just think they are trying to motivate him. He's already good, but I think, their feeling is, if he pushes himself that much harder, he can be great.
