I'm glad the game is on so late tonight cuz I'll sleep through another crushing defeat.

That said, I want them to win! I really do.
So glad to see Coots score. Maybe this will win him more PP time.

I don't know if we can go by ice time as an indicator for a player getting scratched in the next game by Berube. MacDonald had 20:12 in the game before he was scratched - 2nd most on the team behind Streit.

Del Zotto had 21:47 in the game before he was scratched - 2nd most on the team behind Streit.

I was impressed with the 10 - 49 - 17 line last night. Laughton is visible on the ice each shift.

Mason deserved a better fate last night.

If Berube sticks with his apparent plan of benching the defensman he gave the 2nd most ice time in the previous game, then Schultz will be benched tonight.

I think we should each drink a shot every time a Flyers player loses a board battle or coughs up the puck for no apparent reason.

I'm guessing we'd all be passed out before the end of the first period.

Ice time actually usually is the biggest indicator of potential healthy scratches, especially with Chief. The Del Zotto ice time (which had been down on the whole) and MacDonald ice times were a bit of anomaly. Also, Berube clearly does not have much confidence in L. Schenn and his ice time was very low last night in a game where the Flyers either led or were tied most of the night and the Flyers didn't get much in the way of power play time (which is time on the bench for L. Schenn, Grossmann and usually Schultz).

Grossmann has been one of their steadier and more reliable guys all season, IMO. Of course, that's a relative description. But he hasn't been out for all that many GAs this season apart from that run of PPGAs where he and everyone else couldn't do a damn thing right.

I do think Coburn, with the exception of only one or two games, has really struggled since his return to the lineup from the injury.

In general I agree, but I thought Grossmann was awful last night. Coburn truly has been a mess since he returned.

I would give Coliacovo a chance. He can't do any worse

If we are going into " tank mode" then VL and Hamburglar will have to be kept around to play some first line minutes.

Bill, thoughts on a deal that involves Read + L Schenn for Horcoff from Dallas? From a cap standpoint, Horcoff's $5.5M is gone with his UFA status at year's end.

I thought Grossmann was OK last night. Not great but OK. Statistically, he had a good enough line (three credited hits, a block, three shots on goal in four attempts, not out for any GAs in 25 shifts, played 19:12 worth of ES time). Did have one bad turnover but that's not cause for a healthy scratch, in any case.

The expiring contract is the only lure. Would like to get Jokipakka or Nemeth (who won't be back til next season).

Two anomalies in two days from the great hockey mind of Craig Berube.

It wasn't just the turnover. But on at least 2 other occasions he had the puck on his stick, no real pressure and he just gives away possession. It just seems that there is a glaring lack of offensive hockey sense with him, Schenn, AMac, Coburn and to some degree Schultz. This is why the scratching of MDZ was puzzling to me. Even a struggling MDZ brings more skill to the back end than anyone not named Streit and lord knows they can't afford any LESS skill on D.

Sorry to say, apathy has set in. For some reason, I can't become attached to this team and it's not because they are doing bad. Maybe it's too many band-aids which, I know, will not be here very long.

They're not fun at all to watch and for a fan to say that, it's detrimental for an organization. It makes me not want to buy merchandise & content with watching the game at home rather than be at the WFC.

Most nights this season, I even forgot that they were playing! And I counted the days in the summer until the season began.
