Elbow makes no head contact. If you're going to just a hysterical fanboy fine, have at it. Gionta skates into the hit with his head down. Shoulder makes incidental contact with the head. That's not a head shot. I have no problem with a 2 minute call there. But you guys whining about head shots and hearings, man up. It's a contact sport. Gionta got rocked, played it up a little and that's the game. I don't see anything egregious.

After watching it again it's not as brutal as I first thought what makes it a little bad is he bought his arm up. That's all it takes.

It's tough when the one getting hit is small. Always winds up being a head hit. Its a tough thing to enforce in those kinds of situations. Chara had a hit on tavares in an earlier season game that could have been a head hit but in reality it's just that tavares head on skates only comes up to the guys shoulders.

It shouldn't matter how tall the player that's getting hit is. If contact is made with his head, it should be looked at the same way as if he was the same size as the guy that did the hitting.

The rule is out there to protect all of the players, not just the tall ones.

He'd just put up a great first season for us, with good numbers behind our poop-show of a defense, and was off to a hot start that year before getting popped. Never has played so well since.

Should be a fun game tonight.

It's definitely nice to see them leave disappointed. I have to say, I'm starting to think I dislike the Canadiens fans more than the Leafs fans. It's awful to have to sit there and listen to them sing you out of your own building.

I wasn't at the game last night. But I've been to plenty of Montreal games over the last 5 years. It's always much more satisfying to leave after a win against them than most other teams.
