First!
Go get him! TLUSTY!
Btw, I loved Fedotenko's game. He wasn't a star but good at what he did.
Perron for Sid, Tlusty for Geno.

That would be a filthy top six. Tlusty won't cost that much considering how overlooked he is on the market, I just wonder what the real asking price on Perron is.

Brandon Sutter is in the ballpark. Anisimov is a little better option for them. |

That's my thought too. Anisimov > Sutter "considering past #s".
Tlusty for Dumoulin+6th RP
Perron for Sutter+Samuelsson
Fair enough? |

I suppose it all depends on Columbus. If I were Edmonton I would take a straight up Perron for Anisimov deal, but apparently Kekalainen wants Perron +. Perhaps that is the window of opportunity for the Penguins. |

Why do people want to split Kuni and Sid up? I think the first line will end up being:
Kunitz - Crosby - Hornqvist |

“We’ll still make some changes with the team,” Rutherford said, per the Tribune-Review. “We need to get more balance in our forward lines. And I say that with all due respect to the players we have. The guys have worked hard.
“At the same time, there’s a lot of good teams in this league, and I recognize that we’ll have to get more depth up front.”

Because Crosby can't have all the best wingers. We need to jumpstart Geno's line and Kuni has chemistry with him.
Johnston likes to work with pairs and this is the best option right now. |

That's true Kuni has chemistry with both Sid and Geno. But I still think he will be with Sid when Rutherford brings in a winger.
It makes right now for Johnston to split them up right now though. |

Gunner do you see JR surprising us all and going for a big fish like Eberle? Apparently he's available. I know the cost would be much higher... |

Don't you think Sutter could fit with them better long term though?
They have a gaping hole at a potential 3rd line center. Draisaitl is their future #2 or even #1.
Sutter seems like he would be easier to resign. He could fill that position for the next 4-5 years for them |

great article. Advanced stats have really taken over to the point where that's all that's listed now (no goals, assists, points). Tlusty would fit in well as he has the skill for sure |

Finally... unbanned... I really need to stop making fun of a certain person's ideas... ~_~
Side note from the last 2 weeks: Very obvious how certain team's fans are just miserable, hypocritical, and just pathetic, win or lose for their team. Stay out of here please

The process (possession when combined with a player's usage) tells me more about the player than the end results as far as predicting future outcomes. That is why you see more possession based metrics.
Points aren't devalued, of course they are still extremely important, but they don't do a great job at predicting the future like the other numbers do. |

You're probably looking at Dumoulin + for Tlusty, but possibly not a big +.
He scored at a 40 goal pace during the lockout season, and while he's dropped back down since then, there's nothing wrong with a decent 20-25 goal guy who won't hurt you in your own end.
Depends on who else is interested, but Rutherford certainly recognizes the value that Tlusty has. |

Guys like Tlusty are a dime a dozen from the stats department advanced or otherwise. The questions to be asked are does he bring other intangibles to the table that add value? Is he a hard worker or does he float? Will he be a good presence in the room? Does he bring any grit? Is he defensively responsible? Hopefully he's got more Blake Comeau in him than Chuck Kobasew.
It's interesting I keep seeing some of you guys talking about using Sutter as a piece to a trade. If I'm the Pens, I don't consider trading him. They are thing at forward and trading him downgrades the 3rd line while upgrading the top 6. While I like Marcel Goc, I don't think he's a like kind replacement for Sutter at this point. Trade from strength, which means youngu defensemen. Leave Sutter where he's at. |

i wasn't bashing at all and i agree. It's just interesting. They have to be combined, taking either one (just points or just corsi) can be useless. |

As for Goc he absolutelly can be our 3rd line C. I have no doubts about that. It's easy to say he won't keep up when he's buried with Adams and Sill on the 4th line. He's proven. |

The idea that any kind of stats are used in a vacuum is a straw man argument. Nobody that is any good with numbers does that. |

Tlusty isn't a floater. He's defensively responsible and not afraid to go into the corners, will throw the occasional decent hit.
The Fedotenko comparison is a good one. He's not going to overwhelm any one facet of his game, but he does everything reasonably well and is good at finding open areas with his stick on the ice.
He'll grind if you need him to grind, and he'll skate with the big guys if you need somebody to skate with the big guys. He's not exceptional at either, but he'll be, at the very least, adequate at either.

Oh I think Goc is fine, but I just think its forward depth that is an issue for the Pens, so I can't see trading one effective forward in Sutter as part of a package that brings in another. There little in terms of net gain with that strategy. Plus I like the way Sutter is improving as a player. Good guy to have at a reasonable cap number. |

Thanks. I'd be lying if I said I had much of a sense for his game, so I appreciate the scouting report. Feds was a solid player, responsible with some grit, the only thing I remember that would be maddening was his tendency to seemingly disappear for stretches of games, then look like a world beater a week later. |
