GARTH'S CORNER: Montreal Is Gorges - garth
I am curious why you think it is a good idea to pull someone to let Gorges back when the team is on a winning streak while he was out.
Just for fun, I did a bit of research and was surprised by what I found.
The average Goals Against for the team is 3.52.
In games where Mez was out, the Goals Against were 4.83.
Where he has played, the Goals Against is 2.92.
I know, you saw enough and won't let facts get in your way. |

Myers is a $4 million cap hit and would easily fit into Voynov's cap space. - garth
you might want to check myers cap hit again...just 1.5m off |

So now we are giving Myers away? that's a horrible deal that was mentioned. |

Seriously, basically an early 2nd, an AHL'er and a decent prospect |

Shore is currently leading scorer for the Manchester Monarchs. Murray and the Sabres scouts are familiar with Shore having seen him play in the AHL. - garth
This is a gem. The scouts are familiar with him because they have seen him play in the AHL. So aren't they then familiar with ANY player that plays in the AHL. Where do you come up with this nonsense |

I've heard that Lombardi may be willing to deal Jordan Nolan, Nick Shore and a 2015 first rounder to Buffalo for Tyler Myers
LA is willing to do that? That package is a joke.
Tim Murray: CLICK!
Try again, Garth. |

"I've heard that Lombardi may be willing to deal Jordan Nolan, Nick Shore and a 2015 first rounder to Buffalo for Tyler Myers."
This is absolutely laughable.
Nolan - Just because his father is the coach of our team doesn't mean we are interested. We are not running a family reunion. Plus his father is gone after this season.
Shore - He's nothing more then a 3rd tier prospect IMO.
1st rounder in 2015 - Only thing that's even worth mentioning in this dreamed up trade proposal. I'll tell you this much that
Myers will not be traded for just a first rounder. Definitely two of the very best prospects LA has to offer + a 2015 first rounder.
Zykov, Pearson, Watson, Kempe and McKeown any of these two plus this season's first would get it done. |

Pass. Didnt murray turn down the 25th pick overall at the draft? The pick would potentially be lower than that. Adding a 4th liner and a meh prospect dont help. Nothing to see here. |

Any trade with L.A. concerning Myers HAS to include Tiffoli as a starting point. |

Ya plus it's the AHL. Players perform there that never even perform in the NHL. Mancari was big in the AHL but when he came to the NHL he was nothing. I also remember a guy by the name of Linus Omark and I'm sure Oilers fans do as well.
AHL to me is just a teaching tool not an actual prediction on how these players will do in the future. |

I don't even think Murray would be interested in the pick. We will already have picks in the 20's with NY Islanders and St. Louis Blues. |

What kind of awful would it be to have picks 2, 28, 29, 30, and 31. |

The tanking to get mcdavid is the only motivator driving all moves at this point. Edmonton is now trying to get the inside track with ridiculously bad play. If Murray were smart he would trade Meyers to the kings for voynov, give voynov a mogilny jersey, walk him into counseling at bry-Lin, and roll him out next september at training camp as a changed man. So the sabres get a better chance at mcdavid, get a really good defensemen in voynov and the rest of the league is not privvy to what obviously is a complete snow job. Lol |

Top 4 Dmen just entering their prime have a value parallel to actual top line forwards that actually score 60+ points. So a late first, a 4th liner which the team has about 50 of, and an above average prospect who projects to be a shutdown center. So let' see, which of these assets actually help the Sabres to the point that it's worth giving up a top 4 under 26 defenseman.. hmm.. the first round pick is nice. Should be able to pick up a player who could be a top 6 forward or top 4 defenseman in the next 3-4 years. Cool, cool.. and.. we have 50 Jordan Nolan's and like 8 Nick Shore's. This trade idea can go right back to the dark poopty hole that it came from.
Done. |

So I tend to stay away from "bad apples" but what you just said, might make a lot of sense. I would hope he could get a bunch more in a package with Kings for Myers, but I would not be opposed to that (as long as it was a 1st and or another great prospect). We pretty much already (or with upcoming draft picks) will have all the "role" players we will need in 2-3 years, just need another Star player or 2.
I do honestly think that Murray is worried about the league thinking he is tanking if he does trade a few of our players for non NHL players currently, especially before the trading dead line. But I say out with Myers, Stafford, Stewart, and maybe Hodgson by the end of the season and we will have quite a team in the future. If we have 20 highly rated prospects and 10 pan out, we will have quite a team in a few seasons. |
