It needs to be constructive change, not just change for change's sake. there is no point in swapping a guy like perron for a hodgson (just a comparison, take it easy hanleyj).

He doesn't want to get raped. He's run out of options. We are going to lose a trade to get a piece we need.

don't do it, stand pat. guarantee trading Eberle and co. for 60 cents on the dollar will backfire.

It alarms me that they're talking so much about a centre and not defense.

Our centre situation needs to be fixed, but the idea that as soon as Nurse Klef Marincin and Schultz "mature" everything will be hunky dory is bonkers. If we don't get a stabilizing presence back there, they won't "mature" into the defenders they'd need to be for this team to get out of the basement.

I think it's both more pressing now and for the future to get a solid Dman than a solid centre. But seriously, they need both.

Perron for a top line center?

Now that's an experienced GM!

Stand pat?

Not sure that's even an option. It's not working.

well given that he's apparently dangling a second line winger in the hopes of bringing in a first line centre, ya i'd say it's a possibility.

Perron being traded because he's frustrated and has value, or because of perceived and cryptic slight against teammates and coaches?

We need both. Stauffer has said they have been looking for a center all season. The d is as you say a bigger issue. Some point to a 2-0 loss to NJ and say its not an issue but they can't make a breakout of their own end. And we get no offense from the d.

"Top centre" could mean a lot of things.

In an NHL where Tyler Bozak is a 1st line centre and Mike Richards is a 4th line centre, I have no idea what "top centre" means.

Also, Dreger is a moron.

Ok then tell me a realistic deal that will make the team better. GM's aren't going to give fair value to a "core of losers"

Yeah. For about 10 games, our D looked like they were prepared to be able to contribute to a breakout.

Now, you rarely see them move the puck but rather we often try for a forward skate-in entry which allows them to play a pseudo-trap against us.

Part of the problem is that we only have one "puck-handling D" per pairing. Whether by design or by (lack of) talent, Ference/Aulie will always pass the puck to their partner to start every breakout. So one-dimensional.

When you look at a team like Pittsburgh, with Martin-Letang and Maata-Ehrhoff, the world is their oyster in terms of dmen being able to skate out of their own zone.
