I am amused how so called hockey insiders suggest replacing a top teams top Dman with a waiver wire pick up. Maybe some one should give them a Wickipedia lesson to show them it means they were not good enough to play on their current NHL team.
Getting a real top 4 young Dman will also help the progress of the teams future. Yes it will cost a lot. |

Good comment. The ironic thing is that many are predicting/suggesting Stanton, a former waiver pick-up himself, will be getting a sizable boost in minutes in Hamhuis' absence. |

I don't get why people would be happy tearing the team down to get a top four dman for some youth movement that may or may not work.
It's taken the isles a long time to get to the point they can compete and that's through a combination of drafting and trades. Calgary has seemingly turned the corner much quicker doing the same thing.
The Canucks situation isn't nearly as desperate. The market for dman based on the rumored asking prices is overvalued. So for the Canucks to get this player would mean sacrificing the youth and veterans they'll need to compete. Much better to get another guy like hammer our Edler through free agency or draft which is how they ended up in vancity.

Don't forget Carol - third player in Canucks history to reach 1000 games tonight. Oh Danny boy. |

Would you not be ok with giving Salo a try? Might be worth it...

I'm blocking that out because Henrik got injured in his 1,000th game last year against Buffalo. It's a great achievement - and I'm sure they'll have a nice ceremony for him - but I'd rather see Daniel get through this game in one piece! |

Thanks. Apparently my own garbled brains got in the way on that one. I've made the correction. |

You obviously had not seen yesterday's discussion ,yet you are just going to come in anyways and start Biatching.
We have three decent goalies and players like Gaunce and Jensen whom may never make the team.
If you don't think that Myers is worth a first round pick Lack or Markstrom and Gaunce or Jensen then you have no business in a rumour site ,
You would be better served trolling and policing in Fantasyland aka CDC |

If it was a 5/6 Dman down for months I would embrace Salo. The season can slip by fast trying to replace you top guy with a maybe this guy will work. Our D is thin to begin with |

Could a 2nd or 3rd rd pick get us a 4/5 guy like mezaros or mcquaid? |

They could be had and would be cheaper. 28 and 29 years old , I would prefer a younger guy.
Myers I think would have at least a 10 year stay ,so if you are parting with assets I would go younger.
I liked an idea tossed in yesterday trading a prospect for prospect. Pouliot

Meszaros might be a possibility but not much of an upgrade ....doubtful the Bruins who are in trouble injury wise would trade a d man for picks ...it would be like the Bruins offering a 3rd for bieksa right now |

We are not going to get a D man to replace Hamhuis, but we can get some depth and then everyone plays a spot up. |

Bruins would probably trade Chara seeing he is getting older but again would cost |

Canucks aren't good enough to be in a position to trade good prospects or high picks for a legit top 4 d-man. Gonna have to try to buy-low and/or just find another bottom pairing d-man if they want a bandaid option. |

I am thinking this more and more of a possibility, but they are already losing their identity as the big bad Bruins ...trading chara while a good asset management move would probably not happen |

If they are going to go for waiver depth , I would prefer they did nothing |
