I didn't think Clemmensen played that bad. 1 lucky pinball shot, a scramble with what seemed like 20 sticks batting at a puck in the crease and a screened, unexpected shot. 1 goal was scored on the PK....so not really Clemmensens fault....good game though. I was honestly surprised the Flames came back from that one. |

I dont think Clemmer did either and really what more can we expect from a back up? I blame the Devs for not putting there foot down on the Flames throat and really taking over the third. We let you hang in there and your resiliency paid off. |

call me crazy but I really thought u guys would be a better team this year, I know its still early but it just seems the team cant get on a consistent winning streak. I have much respect for uncle lou and honestly feel this team needs a young superstar and think the Devils really should tank for this years top 2 prospects. McDavid or Eichel is what your organization could use..... |

Tanking is a great way to start a losing organization. |

I agree last night alone isn't a huge deal, but the problem with the Devils right now is that they seem to have at least 10 games like this every year, games where they should have won and just kinda blow it in the third.
Isolated it's not a big deal but when you miss the playoffs by say 5 points all these blown leads, dropping points here and there, they add up. |

Because the devils management doesn't tank... How do you propose us getting bad enough to get the 1 or 2 pick? Tell corey to take a really long vacation? |

The way I see it the Devils always seem to be at their best post all-star break so if we're still in the playoff conversation by then we'll be in okay shape...hopefully. |

Todd, now that you have watched a flames game what do you think of them? To me it looked like the game was pretty evenly matched. Jagr looked great which i thought was going to be the difference in the game. super exciting tho. the flames looked a little flat compared to normal but they cant be high flying every game. |

Keep playing Corey for another 20g and maybe something could happen, there's his vacation... lol.....
Right now its still early into the season but anything could happen at the draft, just like how the Devils jumped up to 4 that one year, but being the devils have older vets that could appeal other teams making playoffs is a start.... |

Am I the only one who notices that every time we give up a goal in the final minute, Patrick Elias usually has a nice view, good for the oligatory half-slash after the goal is scored. He has been terrible at center defensively and on draws for years, yet he is out there all the time. WHY! |

playing down to soft competition... Yes the Flames have proved that time and time again this season to 3rd place (so far) in the Western Conference. |

Exactly why it is stupid to tank while sitting 1 point out of a playoff spot with 60 games left to play. |

I personally hate the notion of "tanking". I think the NHL is going the right way with the new draft rules. But to be honest I don't think any player or team actually tries to tank. At least not with the team selection / play at the beginning of the season. Half way through the season if the team is far gone and out the GM will trade the players for assets and the coaches may not match lines as much. But any player that doesn't play their best doesn't deserve to play hockey. |

Maybe the flames were just playing down to their competition
Kidding I like the Devils, they worked pretty hard and their ability to read plays and get sticks in lanes was impressive
I only wonder what their future up front is going to be once the vets are gone |

No one tanks to the extreme like the penguins did calling up their 3rd string goalie to get mario or whatever, but its more in the mentality. The players know what the organzation is playing for and if they're playing for 1st overall, there is no way to hold the players accountable. |

exactly. i agree with all your points here. We're not that far out of a playoff spot. let them play it out. You never know, it's a long season.
Do you think we'd rebound as an organization if we got McDavid? (Cory would have to not play most of the season). I think we could. But if we tanked this year, we'd lose so much money. I'm not sure what the reserves are like, but I'd rather not take the chance. Our fan base is weak enough. Sure, maybe we'd attract more fans with the #1 overall (if we even got it!), but in the meantime it's a big risk. |

To be honest whoever drafts Eichel or McDavid will probably turn their franchises around within a couple years at least to the point that they are making the playoffs. But what this organization would need to do to get even a decent shot at either of them seems like an unnecessary risk. We have a top goalie for the next 7 years, we have an inexperienced defense at the moment that could easily turn into one of the best within a couple seasons. Why risk 10+ years of futility for nothing? |
