Riley Nash is on pace for 59 points in 82 games.

Eric Staal is on pace for 54 in 64 Games (that's another consistent 70 point season over a full year.)

Just Faulk is currently on pace for a 55(!!!) point year.

45 points each for Tlusty and Lindholm.

If the goaltending can hold, and these paces sustained (they look like they can be), the Canes should be just fine.

You know, I can be a strange guy, but the one thing that really stands out for me is Dwyer's goal last night. He jumped in on what could have been just another broken play, showed a ton of hustle (not that he usually doesn't) and made a nice move. I expect that play from one of the big guns, but it was quite a pleasant surprise to see Patty lay it down like that.

It was also good to see Eric roll on Fiddler and show that second and third effort and get on the board. I will openly admit that I thought Nash's pass on Eric's second goal would get broken up (not a knock on Nash whatsoever, just seems like the Canes have had a lot of chances just like that where a pass is made at the wrong time and nothing comes of it). Definitely good to see the captain net a couple of goals.

The Canes just had "that feeling" last night, where you could sense they would battle back and score. They had it to start the month, though the usual inconsistent nature this team displays all too often has reared its ugly head more than I would like. I'm a fan of coach Peters, and I fully believe that the more this team gets accustomed to his style and how to make it work, the better the results will be.

I think the one thing you can say about the team this month is that the effort is there. Last year sometimes you had to really look closely to see who was going through the motions and who was really putting it out there.

If Staal/Tlusty/Semin ever get on track with the third and fourth liners the Canes will be cooking with gas. Until then, we hope for the wins and Canes fans everywhere don't cook with gas, they just have gas.

Hell of a shot by Skinner, and nice timing after all the love they just gave him on the broadcast (Fox Sports)
